Taht KDI18's interior does look beautiful.  I like the exterior color very much, just not all the rush chips.  Was still a very popular color at that time.

Bob, did the lower models than Superba have different shaped buttons than the square ones the TOL series 18 models had?

I would have guessed this was a KDI-19 or 20.

Ralph, I know it's not a KDI20 because the writing over the cycle buttons doesn't have Low Energy or Heavy Wash (20).  the 19 series owuldn't have the energy saver dry button (the 4th button)  So it's got to be an 18 series.

That's a 18 series machine

Made by Hobart.  A 19 series would not need a energy saver "Dry Heat Off" button as heated dry was not an option on KD-19 DW's.

Hobart KD-19 and KD-20 machines had a longer upper wash arm and larger Chinaguard.  Also 19 and 20 series machines had a plastic top to the filter and 18's had a all SS filter as this DW appears to have.   The Hobart KDI-18 and KDC-18 machines did have different button specs than a KDS-18.  This was shown in a Daily Doctrine Dispenser brochure on the Hobart KD-18 machines.

X2!

Those teardrop buttons scream 19/20 series.

Whats worse is that the 18 series literature mentioned above was donated to Robert for the DDD by me!

I got the paperwork from my sister, who foolishly replaced her functioning KDS-18 some years back, but I don't remember the different shaped buttons for the models below Superba.

Funny you should mention the element,

John. The parts manual for the KDC18A which is dated a few months later than the others does show the same heating element as the Superba had and I was wondering if it was an error or an addition to the line to maintain and raise the temp of the water. Maybe you have something in your service archives that would show that they changed the machine and added it or maybe it was just as they were ramping up for the 19's and started putting them in all the machineseven though it still had the heated drying unit.
