My Kenmore Elite dishwasher’s recirculating pump quit after just five years of light use. With parts being on back order I decided to do the typical scrap and replace. I took the plunge on a Kitchenaid model this time, the KDTM804KPS. For having the sterile look of stainless steel, I will say it does actually look attractive. Lighting inside the machine give it a little bit of added flair and appeal. Hopefully this one lasts a bit longer.

Jon, congratulations!! My Kenmore Elite died last May after 6 years/7 months and that included 6 weeks being down after 2 years with a circulation pump giving up the ghost. I wanted to get this model, or the 704 last May, but I was told upper models wouldn't be available again until August, and I wasn't willing to get along without a dishwasher for almost 3 months--hence my Bosch. Eugene (LorrainFuniture) got this model about a year ago.

I lasted a week without and I was over it haha! I was surprised they had the upper tier model. I was hoping for something like the 704 or even the 604. This dealer is a local high-end appliance sales warehouse and they keep quite a bit in-stock. When he saw that they had these and at $400 off the retail price I went for it. Hopefully it’ll last longer.

These pics are of the Kenmore I just swapped out.

Fingers crossed

I hope you have better luck than I did when I replaced our KA with another KA. Twice burned , thrice shy, and went Bosch.

The pump on the 2nd one leaked and drenched my basement rekroom.

Nice looking machine, Jon.  What do you think of the drying?  The fan-assisted "pro-dry" is only on a few of their models, should be a step up in performance.

I bought an 800 series Bosch (like Bob's) 10/20 and had an E-15 (water leak fault) 14 months later.  Took a while to find the source of the leak, turned out to be the rear tank seal.  Bosch said they would replace the machine at no cost, in 8-12 months given supply chain issues.

We're eyeing the KDTM604KPS as a replacement for our current kitchenaid. How does this one perform?

I have to get used to the way this one loads. The third rack is something that is new to me. I will say that the first load I ran had a blender jar and cup that were caked with dried on yogurt from a smoothie I made a couple of days prior. That top rack left the cups spotless. For that matter everything came out quite clean after using the ProWash cycle with high temp option. I typically don’t use the dry option but I tried it on this one and it seemed to do a pretty good job. Cycle time was about 2 1/2 hours for this run which seems typical nowadays. Tomorrow is my day to cook for the week ahead so I’ll have a heavier load or two to run.

Jon, your old Elite looks like mine did. I had the motorized bottom wash arm that reminded me of the Multi-Orbit of my Potscrubber GSD1200.
