I never knew that Kitchenaid made Superba garbage disposals. Were they of good quality?

The one we have is about 10 years old and it's so noisy it'll wake the dead and shake the counter tops. It's a 1994 Whirlaway Model 191, 1/3 horse.

What would you all recommend we replace it with?

The Hobart disposals were fantastic!!

I had to replace a Hobart made Kitchenaid Superba disposal after 40 years due to an upgrade to Corian counter tops that caused geometry problems of mounting. I still have it and really miss using it. That "Wam Jam" feature would dim the lights throughout the house when it was engaged. Talk about amperage draw!

Superba

I bought my Mom one in 1970. What a machine. It would grind steak bones, corn husks, corn cobs, indestructable disposal. A few years later after my Mom passed, my grandmother had it removed because "we didn't need it". She threw it out on the curb for collection while I was away at college. (Witch)

I had a KitchenAid by Hobart pig and loved it. Todays KitchenAids are nothing more than an ISE pig in disguise. Viking pigs are the same thing as the Hobart made ones of years ago. I call the disposal a pig...always have always will.

I don't know much about disposers. My parents have had a KitchenAid that the builder put into their condo around 1991. I don't know what model, it's not TOL though. It's a great disposer, works well, even on banana peels(mine won't) and bones. Quite quiet too. Never had any repairs. HTH, Todd
