Congrats, Pete! It looks in very good shape - seems like all the top rack sections are there too!! Will you have it trucked out to you or will you be picking it up?? If you happen to be in CT in late May, let me know - Ogden is not that far from Connecticut...
in the summer as i want to visit lake compounce amusement park and ridfe their vintage coaster "the wildcat".
but for now i am going to get jim to pick up this kitchenaid for me, he will be in that area in april. funny how things work out. i almost bought those four including a kd2-p and decided not to. then i almost bought a kd2-p from someone else and he accidentally let it go to the trash. i figured i would probably not find one again and look what happened!
Robert, I forgot the model number (KDS-9?) of my parents' new KA dishwasher installed undercounter in early 1962, but the parallelogram-shaped handle is identical to that of the portable. However, the portable's styling looks older than our 1962 model, so I wonder if this machine is pre-1962.
production logs and the kd-12 was made from 1957-60. since this kd2-p is basically kd-12 in a top loader i assume it was made during the same period, 1957 thru 1960.
also i found out the dishwasher is not in connecticut but in new mexico! bummer! still buying it but it does throw a wrench in the pot as far as having jim pick it up.
oh well, when there is a will.... there's relatives! i'll get it picked up, there is always "u crate it".
i injured my back last week moving one of my rollermatics, i can barely move! talk about painful! today is the first day i can walk without pain shooting up my body! those rollermatics will be the death of me yet!
anyway as for lake compounce i would love to visit this summer if i can find time and money. their old coaster, the wildcat was built in 1927, one year after the designer, herb schmeck of the philladelphia tobbagon co. built a very similiar ride at coney island, cincinnati. it was also called the wildcat and i have many pics of it on my facebook page.
i never got to ride the wildcat as they removed it at the end of the 1964 season. so at the same time the rollermatic was coming in and hobart was introducing the 4 way hydrosweep on the kd-15 my favorite childhood coaster was being torn out!
i regret never riding it to this day and when i die i hope to see it again! that's how much that stupid coaster meant to me! so if i can i want to visit lake compounce and ride their wildcat as it is very similiar in design and built by the same man who in my opinion made the best coasters of the 20's. so if i can save the money and take a few days off i really want to make it to connecticut. guess i'll drive, i don't like flying, afraid to fly actually!
enough sermon on that!
back to the dishwasher above, thanks for the comments and kevin i will check my e mail tonite. thanks again!
