Kitchenaid KDC-16 Dishwasher

Almost 17 years ago I moved in to my house and found an old Kitchenaid dishwasher. It's still going strong. I'd love to know how old it might be. It has a single center latch and a dial to the left, no buttons. The only thing I've ever done for it is replace the bottom basket with one from a machine that was out on the curb in my neighborhood.

A repair guy working on my fridge looked it over and told me, "It will run forever and you can't replace it with anything half as good."

The repair man was partially correct.  A KDS-18 might be twice as good!

 

Your machine dates back to the early 70's, and is the entry-level KitchenAid model.

Actually, it could go back as far as 1968 or 1969 and that's based on a copy of a use & care manual a friend of mine sent me on the 16 series.
