Hey guys, I've recently converted my Imperial Dua Cycle into a "freestanding portable" and when I went to do a test cycle, water started leaking around the motor area and dripping out as indicated in the video. I checked the hoses, replaced the impeller and shaft seal from a donor KDA-7 but it still leaks. I did notice however in the photo at the 8-9 o clock position the gasket/seal for the tank started to peel, could that be the cause?

hose check!

From the video you posted, it looks like the water is leaking from the area of the hose and adapter for the pressure switch. Make sure that the hose is not cracked or that the small plastic reservoir isnt cracked either. If the hoses are the problem, you can repalce them but make sure you make them exactly the same length as the originals. The pressure switch is calibrated with the length of the hoses taken into consideration.

It did not look like the seal was leaking because it would have leaked on to the top of the cooling fan and would spray out in a 360 degree pattern of fine water mist. And your leak seems like it is a bad drip.

Conversion

Alex,

In converting the machine to a portable, what kind of procedure did you use, if you would? Cabinet, base, water and electric supply; how did you go about this?

Suggestions from any will be appreciated.

Brian, I actually converted it from a portable to a "freestanding portable" by removing the unicouple, changed out the fill valve with one from a donor KDA-7, hooked up a 90 degree inlet hose and extended it out to my washer supply line faucet and fitted a garden hose to the drain valve to drain out to my washer pipe. I can wash vac parts downstairs now without having to use my Power Clean portable!
