Clean up day for my KDI-58 that I purchased in August. This machine is in pretty good physical condition but it is rather dirty. Seems like it spent part of it's life in a grease factory so there's a lot of scrub-a-dub going on.

Pulling it all apart I noticed that there seems to be some sort of wash arm thing at the top that is not all there. What is this thing and does anybody have a good picture of it? I have read here that it's called the "Constant Rinse" but don't have any more details on it.

If part of it is indeed missing I'd appreciate if somebody could post a picture of what it is supposed to look like as it might help me find one. A part number might help too although I doubt that they are still available.

If I can't find a new one how important is this to the washing process? It looks like water will just come shooting out of there, if so will it affect the water pressure that runs the other two arms?

Thanks in advance. Now back to the scrubbing!

That's the original style upper constant rinse arm. Surprised it's still there, most get damaged by putting a tall item in upper rack and then jam the rack into the machine, shearing that arm. Hobart updated the arm with a new design that's a bit more streamlined.

Something looks awry with the lower cover of that arm but it's difficult to tell in that picture. Any chance you can get a closer shot?

half gone

It looks like the bottom half of the Constant Rinse has broken away. The assembly mounts to the upper housing with 2 screws. I'm not sure if it is exactly the same part as on earlier models. This is om my KDI-16

Here's a shot looking right up at it with the front camera. And two from an eBay auction that came up when I searched for "KitchenAid Constant Rinse".

Is it supposed to look like the thing in the auction?

She's a goner.

The Robert Shaw replacement is using the original 241395 Hobart part #. I am unfamiliar with these as it's an aftermarket part but I am curious if it's the same original Hobart design before they updated it.

The updated design and part# is 4162658. There's a bunch of those on ebay for as cheap as $8.79. It's up to you if you want to spend extra for the Robert Shaw unit or not.
