Hello all, long time no post. So I picked up a dishwasher a few days ago, as I was fiddling around with it, I realized it doesn't stop filling. I'm clueless when it comes to dishwashers. I was told it is either the float switch or fill valve and that both of these are easily fixed. Can anyone offer any information on this?

Filling is timed.  The float comes into play only during an overfill situation.  The more common glitch related to the float is that it gets stuck in its upward position and the machine won't fill.

Does water flow in immediately upon connection to a faucet before the machine is turned on?

While the machine is running and filling, just unplug it if the water doesn’t stop immediately, you have a stuck in let valve.

It’s also possible the timer is not advancing, but in that case, the float should stop it from overflowing. It’s very unlikely the float is bad as long as the little blue cone moves up and down easily.

Float/inlet valve

The float moves up and down easily. I'll have to unplug it and see if it continues to fill. I'll give both of these tests a try when I get home. If it is in fact the water inlet valve does anyone know the part number for a vale that would be a good replacement? I'm pretty sure the original valve is no longer available. Thanks guys
