Hi,
I have an old KDS-17 dishwasher that I love. But, it's finally started showing its age. The buttons do not work. To run it, I have to manually start it rotating the reset screw behind the access panel.

Does anyone have a copy of the service manual that I can get?
Thanks,
Steve

The timer may not be resetting itself when the door handle is opened after the cycle has finished. You should hear the timer reset itself when this is done.

I'm not familiar with the 17 models but the 18-20 series are notorious for the plastic arm that's responsible for resetting the timer when the door is cycled needing to be bent slightly inward after a gazillion loads.

Thanks Dan,
Sounds like the issue.
Didn't want to just start tearing into her without the service manual - if I can help it. But if not one has one, I'll have to do just that.

Also,
Detergent dispenser hasn't been working for some time. Would be great to get a replacement. If you guys know if aftermarket availability in these - I'd appreciate it. But, I'm pretty sure that part will be almost impossible to source.

There's a service manual for the 67 series available which is the portable version of the 17 series. It's the same design except on wheels along with external water fill and drain hoses/accesories.

The non working detergent dispenser could be:

Corrosion. Remove the leads to the bi metals and carefully inspect them. The seals on the dispenser cups and doors can leak, causing corrosion on the terminals of the wires and/or the bi-metal connections.

Bi-metal actuator incorrectly adjusted.

Bi-Metal actuator needs replacement.

Dishwasher under filling.

These dishwashers are unique where the bi-metals are wired in series with the motor. If the dishwasher under fills, it causes the motor to not load down and pull enough amperage to trigger the bi-metal actuator(s).

Hey Dan,
How do I download or view a clear copy of that manual?
Even zoomed all the way, it's blurry.
Thanks

I have never downloaded anything from there so I can't help with that. Someone here will be able to respond shortly.

The 67 series is the front loading portable of the 17 series, with the top controls. There is no Superba model in the 67 series, so some important information may not appear, like the door latch/program switch connection.
