Hello, Everyone. First time to post here. I have a 1976 KitchenAid KDS-17A dishwasher that I've managed to keep in good repair for the 18 years I've lived in our house. It is the only original appliance left from 1976, which is a testament to the durability of the machine. However, last night it overfilled and flooded the kitchen floor. Thinking it was a one-off, I cleaned up, hit "cancel/drain", and tested it with the bottom cover removed. I immediately noted that the timer/programmer ran continuously when the door is closed and the handle locked. Then when it got to a certain point in the program "POOF/FIRE/SMOKE" from the Molex connector on the left-hand side of the timer/programmer. The pins on the timer are toast, as are many of the contacts on the Molex connector. I've searched all the big supply houses, and the timer/programmer is listed as Not Available, as is the wiring harness. Looking for suggestions before putting this bad boy out to pasture, and I figured this would be the best place to post.
TIA for all responses!

Timer is part# 4161474. There's a new one Ebay.

The chances of finding a new wiring harness for a 50 year dishwasher from a company that sold out its residential line of appliances to Whirlpool in 1986 will be very slim but you may be able to fabricate your own. Someone here may have carefully disassembled and torn down a 17A and kept the harness intact. I did that with a KDS-18 and KDS-19 many years ago.

The dishwasher probably flooded due to a stuck inlet valve. The valve will need to be replaced (Part# 4171000) https://www.ebay.com/itm/2952986040...1Qb4IrS0p1AELRVZ7W0pOtHA==|tkp:Bk9SR7ylk8WiYg

I remember seeing a another post of this exact issue years ago and found it. It appears when the dishwasher floods, water makes it way into the timer. It apparently made it into your wiring harness, too.
