Hi all,

I'm renovating a house for rental and it has a KDS-18, Kitchenaid (Hobart) dishwasher in it.
I'm searching for the manual online as a PDF so i can get the dimensions of the unit to aid in finding a suitable replacement which will fit in the under counter space. Can someone post the dimensions from the manual or their machine if handy? I'm about 100 miles away from the house so I'm trying to do as much planning via internet as possible.

The dishwasher still works it seems but it emmits a terrible burning smell when in use. I remember my mom stopped using it in the mid 80's but not sure why. Since the house is a rental, I wanted to put something new in there with an extended warranty to reduce repair issues.

REPLACEMENT FOR KDS-18

I think you are smart to replace this machine for a rental property, but it was a very good machine in its day and there may be club members here that are interested in having it.

Unless thew kitchen floor has been built up a lot with thick new flooring since this DW went in you can easily install any new machine you want. The KDS-18 had a full frame around the tank so once it is removed it will be very easy to install the replacement. I have installed a few thousand replacement DWs in my life and I always liked putting in replacements when an old KA was coming out as there were never any fit problems for the new machine. Just yesterday I removed a 6 year old two drawer Fisher-Paycal DW and like removing an old KA it left a nice large space and the new KM standard tub Ultra Wash DW just slid in. My customer said the F&P DW still worked but he was absolutely sick of either having to pre-wash all his dishes or having them come out covered with food, Royal POS and a waste of over $1000.00 as he put it now he has a $400.00 WP built machine that will actually work.

Anyway I get off topic a bit LOL, I would just buy a $400-500 WP or MT or KM DW built by WP for your rental. And skip any service contracts, not only are they a complete waste of money for major appliances, it is much harder to get most problems fixed with them than just calling a good local service company which you need to know anyway if you have a rental house.

Thanks for the suggestions combo52. Logistically if I'm able to, I'll try to retain the dishwasher so i can pass it on to enthusiasts like yourselves. I'll post here if this ends up happening.
