I rotated the KitchenAid Superba portable into the kitchen to help out as the '56 GE pull-out has some leakage issues. I didn't quite trade 4 quarters for a dollar but...

The machine itself is fine but after a few uses, the faucet coupler just seems to no longer latch securely onto the faucet adapter and leaks like the proverbial sieve. My best guess at this moment is that something is worn or has slipped out of place, thus preventing the coupler sleve from snapping into place securely. On the other hand, I've had a lot of dishwasher faucet couplers fail on me over the years. I remember being lucky enough to find a rebuild kit for the '78 GE Potscrubber portable that served my father until 2004 not once but twice.

The coupler itself has me puzzled - it seems to be one piece. The only part that looks removable is a retaining ring just below the coupler sleeve. I am reluctant to mess with this and wondered if this can be repaired somehow. I love the look of the original faucet coupler and would like to retain it if I can!

There is a gasket that goes below the little balls; WP factory part no. 910218. I can't imagine that they changed it that much over time. It goes in with the fold down and the two edges up. Moisten it with some detergent water to make insertion easier and run water into the coupler part before putting it on the faucet.
