I got the stainless steel panels that I ordered from Amazon on Monday. Wow, what a transformation!

I've only had to repair one leak and replace the water inlet valve. The machine does a much better job at cleaning than the 3 year old Whirlpool Gold Series. It may not be as quiet, but we run it at night when we go to bed. To be honest, it's really not that noisy.

My only complaint is having only 1 final rinse instead of 2. I have compensated by filling the 1st detergent dispenser. And I learned real quick to use powder instead of the tabs. Because we have soft water, I only use half of the detergent.

I have the old panels available if anyone needs them.

Awesome Upgrade!

With stainless panels, the 21-23 series of KA machines has a timeless design that looks perfectly at home in a modern kitchen some 30 years later.  I did the same with my ISE Classic Supreme and it made a huge difference.

Kinda sad that my KUDS22 is out-of-the-family.  Sister and bro-in-law took it some years ago, it stayed there when the house sold a few years ago.  Probably got trashed by the buyers.

If you find that the one detergent wash and one after rinse prove inadequate, you can do like I did with mine and wait with a 3 quart pitcher of very hot water and pour it in after the machine finished filling for he post wash purge. That brings the amount of water in the sump to one gallon and it is enough to spray water to the top of the machine. The drain after the purge is sufficiently long to completely empty the water from the machine then it goes into the only final rinse with less of a detergent load and you get dishes that dry without the fine detergent film on them. This procedure also reduces the lingering alkalinity that dries on the vinyl racks and causes them to degrade so much more quickly than the racks in previous series that gave at least two after rinses.

Tom, that's a good idea. We actually ran it tonight right after dinner. It is so quiet that we didn't hear it in the living room.

I will keep your suggestion in mind the next time and try it. Thanks!
