I'm at a loss. We have a kuds200t diswashwer we put into our house when we built it in 1991. It has always left food particles on the dishes off and on. Lately it does it with every load, requiring hand washing of all the affected dishes! This is getting VERY old and I'm ready to replace the thing.

I have constantly cleaned the screen and the course food catcher at the bottom. Now I downloaded the manual for the it and have tried increasing the amount of soap, not using the potscrubber option and increasing the hot water temperature. Nothing seems to help - do I replace it?

What brand of detergent do you use? Try WalMart Great Value or Cascade Complete. Make sure it's filling with sufficient water. Check that the drain is clear, and if it drains into the garbage disposal, there should be an air gap installed in teh drain line. If there's no air gap, and the drain line is lwer tahn the garbage disposal, junk can be siphoned back into the dishwasher. You can get a piece at hardware stores that lets the machine drain directly into the sink drain, bypassing the disposer. This also has the advantage that if the disposer is disabled, it won't disable the dishwasher, too.

Make sure that the hose between the d/w and the drain isn't kinked--if you are using cheap hose (garden hose, e.g.) it can kink and cause pump-out problems. Also take a sponge with some dishwasher detergent and wipe off the area just below the door--often collects greasy film and yuk and might be redepositing.
