Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Combo, that's a good point about the stroke length and clothing damage. The FF always did a short stroke, but with its ramp agitator, it could move clothes fast. The same stroke with the straight vane gave marginal turnover in the bigger capacity machines. So it stands to reason that if you make the agitator larger, the wash action should be more dramatic.

When Hobart owned Kitchenaid was their motors in there dishwashers, disposals, etc, also made by them?Like the Gold seal motor was that made by Hobart or bought from or subcontracted out from an outside source? My 85 Kitcheanaid disposal when grinding changes direction depending whats being ground quite a bit without turning it off when my Viking which looks just like it just jams don't do that.

KitchenAid used their Hobart built motors all the way through either the the 21 or 22 series machines, then switched to the Emerson made "gold seal" motor. My 22 series KA Architect machine that I bought in 1989 had the Emerson sourced motor inside.

KitchenAid never made their own garbage disposals. They were sourced from Viking. Viking still makes the same garbage disposals that they sell under their own brand name. Current KA disposals are re-badged ISE disposers.
