I am looking at a Kitchenaid Artisan mixer for a friend.
It is model 5KSM150.
It is dead - no response at all.
I was hoping it was just motor brushes, but they look fine. They are odd - a triangular section brush in a square section brush holder, but I have found some info online that suggests this is normal. I have read a bit online about getting the brushes oriented correctly, which I don't quite follow, the diagram was a bit unclear.
What else should I be looking at?
I am very unfamiliar with these machines, I can do Kenwood Chefs with my eyes closed but I have never touched a Kitchenaid before.
I have taken the rear end cover off to inspect inside. The speed control lever moves the governor assembly in and out, and I can see the on/off contact opening and closing correctly. There is nothing black and crispy on the little circuit board with the triac. There appears to be another circuit board inside the casing, underneath the motor - how do I get in there?
Are there any common faults that would cause this?
Thanks.
Chris.
