I recently acquired a Kitchenaid Regency Dishwasher. I grew up around superbas basically so I had never seen this model. Can anyone tell me what the age of this machine is and where it was in the kitchenaid dishwasher lineup. I'm assuming it's bottom of the line. It washes very well. I see it has no heating coil in the sump area. All the kitchenaids I've been around have a heating coil in the sump area. Are parts easy to find for this machine? Any information would be great!

Looks like this might be one of the later-model KA front-load portables!   The wood cutting board top and the number of cycle selection buttons would suggest this is high-end model not a bottom of the line.   Does this one have a wash arm for the upper rack?

It does have the upper wash arm. It washes very well cept it seems to leak a bit out of a rubber tube out of the tub that attaches to the supply line that goes to the upper wash arm. Not sure how to fix it or if it is fixable. Any suggestions?

Leak continues

Well, I did some more looking around thinking that maybe one of the fittings was loose letting water seep. Well, I found the fitting on the rubber piece in the picture I attached was a touch loose. I tightened it. Thinking ok, maybe this was the problem. I hooked up the water and fired it up. Within 15 seconds I had water all over the place. So, that fitting had nothing to do with it. Is it possible the seal in the tub is shot? I need a kitchenaid expert to weigh in on this. I wish I could get this fixed and up and running.

More than you bargained for

I am sure...
When I saw the picture you posted and saw the rust on the motor, it suggested that the shaft seal was the culprit. It is good that you tightened the upper manifold hose clamp. I would suggest you remove the lower access panel and put a few quarts of water into the machine and place the timer in the wash position and turn it on. If the shaft seal is leaking, you will see it spraying water out from the top of the motor. If the motor is quiet, you won't have to replace the bearings or the motor. Shaft seal replacement is pretty straight forward on these motors and if you can't find one from whirlpool, they are still available from Hobart under part number 435102.
Let us know how you make out.

More than you bargained for

Thank you so much for the help steve and everyone else who gave me information on my dishwasher. Steve that is the problem. It's spraying water from the top of the motor. What is the best way of contacting Hobart? Is this an easy repair? I have never tore a dishwasher apart before. I didn't think the motor was to loud. So I assume the bearings are ok.

Parts

Thank you so much for your help Steve! I am ordering the item as soon as I finish this message. With me knowing very little about repairing a dishwasher is this going to be something that I can do successfully? Is it a complicated repair?

The repair manual for the 18 series KitchenAid dishwashers is in the ephemera library, you can download a digital copy and print out the sections you need if you like to have them right at hand while working on the machine.

This is a straightforward, relatively easy repair and you shouldn't have any trouble getting it done.  Good luck!

agreed!

You should have that service manual anyway and it should be a great help.
Like I always warn.. The rule of thumb will be what you take out you should put back in and for 99% of the time, the shims and spacers removed are just what you need to make it right when reassembled. SO.. make sure that you remove shims and washers carefully and put them back in where they came out. There should be a spacing gauge with the seal kit so it should follow the service manual exactly.
IF you have a problem, we are all here!

And, you don't need to remove the pump from the dishwasher to install a new seal kit. Just take it apart from the inside of the tank.
You can do it on your kitchen table but that's just extra work.
