Fixed

I had another appliance man come because the icemaker wasn't working so I had him look at the dishwasher and, god bless him, he took that white plastic part and in the picture and jerry rigged it so it works!! He was determined to fix it and I love him for it!

Unplugging it

If the dishwasher circuit originates out of the same box as the disposal counter top switch, you could add another switch in there and break the hot. One of these could work for a single gang box:

That way no need to unplug. As is constant plugging and unplugging over the years can really wear down the receptacle and plug.
