I just picked this up yesterday. It looks brand new inside and the front. I was told that it was working until it was taken out of the house just 3 months ago (kitchen remodel). Anyway, I only gave 50 bucks for it. My plan is for it to replace the 3 year old Whirlpool that has given us trouble.

I'm going to test it for leaks and other issues while it's still in the garage. In the meantime, I ordered the countertop mounting hardware (in case everything checks out fine).

Once I get it installed, I would like to replace the panels with stainless steel. I swapped out the panels to black this afternoon, but if anyone has panels they would like to sell, let me know. I already checked Ebay and online stores. No luck. Cross your fingers that this machine is a keeper. I had a KDS18 when I lived in Florida and loved it. Thanks!

I had a KUDS22, January 1992 to Aug 2003 when the DD arrived.  It sat idle for a couple years then went to a sister, they left it in the house when it sold July 2016.

It runs only one rinse after the main wash but does have a pump purge.

Soak & Scrub has 3 washes.  Load and close both dispenser cups, then place another dose of detergent on the open space.

Normal heats the first fill to 140°F before starting the spray.

IIRC, Soak & Scrub heats the first fill (soak & scrub) twice, and maybe also the 2nd fill (which is the first wash for Normal).

Final rinse heating for Sani Rinse option, I think is timed, not temp-controlled.

Are you sure about that? I never heard of a dishwasher that had a non thermostatic Sani cycle. Not to say they don't exist but that would be blatant false advertising in my opinion.

Maybe I didn't pay close-enough attention but I vaguely recall that the timer didn't stop running during the sani rinse heat period.  I could hear it stop during the wash preheat, restart at the target temp.  I think it advanced one increment at that point, the detergent dispenser opened, then another advance and the pump started.  Maybe I'm wrong about the whole thing, wouldn't be the first time.  Not to mention I've slept a couple times since then. 

ETA:  Pic of the user manual describing the Sani-Rinse option.  It says "approximately 160°F" and specifically "... lengthen the cycle time 10.5 minutes."

That's interesting. It certainly different than the KDS 18, 19, and 20 machines I've had.

A little disappointing that there's only one rinse after the main wash.
Now I'm concerned that there may be food and soap residue left on my dishes and glasses.

I knew that it was Whirlpool made with the square Emerson motor.

Sani Rinse Option

Does stop the timer and heat the water in the sump to 160F, however like all Hobart designed DWs the dishes never get anywhere near 160F, the same thing happened with earlier KA DWs with the 180F Sani rinse.
