KitchenAid Won't Start

I can choose everything on the touch panel except HEAVY and HI-TEMP and START. Pressing STOP/DRAIN works.

So, before I start tossing parts at it (thinking of starting with the control board) what should I be looking for?

Sounds like a bad touch panel, which is part of the console.
