I recently found at an estate sale a wonderful guide from General Electric specifically about using the Sensi-Temp burner. The guide explains what Sensi-temp is and how it is best used. I just finished added this to the Ephemera Library...

....And had a look. Interestingly, the little drawings are of a Wear-Ever cookware called Hallite; this must be what GE thought was cookware representative of their recommendations. Hallite had a body of plain aluminum, with lids of aluminum anodized in colors - usually, but not always, copper. Red, turquoise, black and green are other Hallite colors I'm familiar with; there might be others. I personally never thought that much of Hallite, because it's not all that heavy, but there are those who like it.

My Sensi-Temp burner works very well with my aluminum-clad Farberware and my Corning Ware. I could see how it would also work very well with classic Club Aluminum. For newer cookware, the choice would be pretty broad; today's ply-bottomed cookware is flat on the bottom and the conductive layer is usually pretty darn substantial.

I really appreciate this item being added to Automatic Ephemera's selections!

When I used my Farberware 12" skillet on the Griddle setting of the SensiTemp on my 30" ranges where it only heats the outer coil, it gave flawless results; the same from edge of the pan to the center; a great pan coupled with a great surface unit design.

P.S.:

I meant to add this to another thread about Sensi-Temp, but this is as good a place as any:

I mentioned recently that I made a pot of soup in my 5-liter Corning Ware casserole. It was potato-based, with other veggies and ham included in it.

I have never made it before in Corning Ware without at least some minor scorching in the bottom of the casserole; the scorch was just inherent in using Corning Ware for the recipe, it seemed (it has never scorched in Farberware).

The batch I made recently on the Sensi-Temp burner was absolutely scorch-free; the Corning Ware cleaned up with the greatest of ease. Nice!
