Dishwasher ended cycle last night with tub full of water. I hit drain button and wait light came on, it pumped out all the water but pump kept on running. If I hit any of the wash cycle buttons the drying light comes on and the fan runs, hit cancel and the fan stops the wait light comes on and the pump starts running again. Any pointers on where to start troubleshooting?

thanks

Hi, when you press the Cancel/Drain button how long are you waiting before pressing another button? The Cancel process can take up to 2 1/2 min to complete. Try the cancel function again and give it at least 2 min. When all the lights have gone out and the pump stops, raise the door latch. The "Wait" light may turn on again; give it about a minute to go off and the machine will be ready for another cycle.

Select the Normal wash cycle and let the machine run to completion. If there is water left in the tank again at the end of the cycle then you either have a clogged drain line, a bad program switch, or a malfunctioning timer. Try this procedure first and let us know what happens before we explore these other areas.

Good luck.

I opened the door after approximately 10 minutes, the pump was still running and the wait light was still on. I figured it was either the switch or the timer but was hoping that what it is doing might point to one or the other.

thanks

glad to hear from you spacepig, I'll be in your neck of the woods tomorrow, picking up another kitchenaid to tide me over until i can fix this one. Its a KDI but for $25 can't go wrong.

For anyone else who has similar problems in the future, it turned out to be the M001 timer motor. Used motor on ebay is $35 but found a complete NOS timer for $50 so should be back in business next week. The one I just picked up was a KUDC210S2 very clean tub but needs a door gasket and a wash arm support. Any leads on finding these parts is appreciated.

thanks
