Wow, awesome Norges and Maytags. (Remember the days when you could tell the name of the washer and/or dryer from its control panel?) Love the colors of those Whirlpools.

If I ever have a laundry room (I live in an apartment), I'm going to introduce some color to it. I recently washed and dried my queen size comforter at a new laundromat / cafe that just opened near me. (It's actually an interesting concept, you can have lunch/coffee/or the spirit of choice (they have a liquor license) while doing your laundry, but I digress.) They have a laundry themed wallpaper border around the perimeter of the main room. So, at a minimum, I would have a laundry themed wall paper border in a laundry room of my own.

I think the reason everything went to plain white-on-white also includes the fact that many people think of house as "investment" rather than as "home," so anything that's too personalized is seen as "hurting resale value." And the result is homogenized dullness.

The other thing about those laundry rooms: all that space! Holy cow! Especially the one where the kids are playing on the floor, but also the green room and the magenta room.

What's so hellish about it? She's got a husband that takes care of her and two beautiful kids. She looks like suffering in that pic, drinking coffee and smiling while waiting for the laundry to finish. At least she's not a single mom juggling two jobs and those kids with no daddy. Yeah, that's liberation.

I just thought it was funny that "Lady Executives"
is here shown as a muti-tasking dress-clad coffee drinking slave.. er. mom. she is actually shown ENJOYING (perhaps different than today's stereotype of an "ideal" mom)

1) Sewing with her singer drop-in bobbin sewing machine
2) Ironing to the degree/quantity that there is a built-in
board
3) Has a sink, maybe to scrub vegetable for dinner?
4) Has a Corning-ware electric coffee pot in there perhaps implying spending LOTSA time.
5) Washing and drying
6) Entertaining/babysitting her brood.

I still say the mysery appliance has potential as a mini-bar.
LOL!!!! Please just an observation. No offense to anyone!!!!

I think it's a cabinet-style, also known as a "table-top" style electric water heater. My maternal Grandmother was partial to these and had two of them in her lifetime.

Hey Greg- Gasky1- you may have to put a few drops in the coffee urn! Techncally one drop "charges" the whole batch. Anyone askes why the coffee burns as if there is Louisiana Hot Sauce in it, RUN for the hills!!!
