I finally had some time over the past few weeks to do some long awaited work on The Regency.
After alot of Sandpaper and Sanding with a few coats of Mineral Oil, Her top is now presentable

This is the First Day Home I picked up the Machine. I scrubbed the top with Greased Lightening back in August just to get the Crud and "Yibbles" off

Great refinishing!

Eddie, the top of La Regina looks great! Do you know what kind of wood they used for these tops? It looks like it might be oak.
BTW, the Whirlpool washer off to the right in the last picture looks like it may be the same vintage as my recent Inglis acquistion.

Hey Paul, Hey Gary

Hi Paul, The Whirlpool is a 1961.
Hi Gary.
With the coaching and advice from the one and only "stevet", he told me to lightly sand the rust spots with emery cloth, and then put a thin film of White GE Silicone over the spots. They were not leaking, but I wanted to address the situation before they got worse.

That dw was my parents 1st one. That baby saw 15yrs. of daily use. I would love to have one like it again. I think the pump died, and Dad decided to get Mom a GE replacement instead of fixing the Kitchenaid

Miss Maple in the kitchen!

The wood tops were Maple from what I remember and they instructed the user to keep it clean and season it with mineral oil. Basically good advice for any wooden cutting board. The Superba top is maple as well, but it looks like the grain was reversed on it from the picture above.
Ed, you always do such a great job!
That KDS-20 sitting in the obscure background would be a good addition to anyone's home. I still liked how mine worked and still have all the innards to make another one should the occasion arise. But lot's of pressure to get the 18 back online as you all well know.

So far the 21 is the daily driver and am now using a Kenmore TOL tall tub(plastic) as the garage spare. Holds alot of stuff and washes great with the 4 Way Hydrosweep pretender washarm!

But have to admit, that Bosch I was using in the garage really cleans superb(a)ly. Really shines and makes the silverware sparkle like no other machine I have seen for some reason!

CAUTION:

My father worked in a research laboratory with a VERY INTELLIGENT science researcher (of the Nobel-prize variety/grade). Didin't make a huge salary. He attempted to repair his family's older Dishwasher with a sealant...silicone I think, meant for aquariums. THERE WAS A WARNING THAT IT COULD AFFECT (HARM) THE FISHIES. But he thought it's meant for an AQUARIUM and the fish are rather sensitive..........

He ended up poisoning his family who were very severly harmed with the cheimicals/silicone in the compound and had IRREVERSIBLE NERVE AND BRAIN DAMAGE.

SO PLEASE before you do ANYTHING to your dishwasher, you need to be 200% sure it's safe to ingest.

I remember this story as if it were told to me yesterday and remember the newspaper clippings as well. Sorry but I can't find anything on the web to substantiate.

Thanks for the Warning

It won't be long before Monsanto with their Genetically Altered Produce that's "Round Up Ready" will kill all of us. I truly really appreciate the warning. I have not researched this. OMG, isn't anything safe anymore ??? (Sigh)
