Lint filter location
All 29" Whirlpool made dryers from approximately 1957 through the present models have the top-mounted lint filter. Models made 1966 and later have them in the exact same location. Some versions have lift-up covers as shown, others have a hand grip to pull the filter directly out.

I remember when dear ole Dad bought matched Lady Kenmores in harvest gold back in the early 70's and how wowed I was by the lint filter location. Fast forward 40 yrs and my MT dryer came with the top mount filter. PIA! There is no way to empty it without spreading lint everywhere. That alone kills any of the WP dryers for me.

Are the cleanest easiest dryer lint filters to clean and this is the only design that does not spread a plume of lint into the air and in your nose.
To Clean, start dryer with load of clothing to dry, remove lint filter and hold filter near opening on top of dryer, remove lint from screen and any loose lint that falls on top of dryer either blow in into filter opening or brush it into opening with your hand, any lint drawn in will be harmlessly blown outside your home.
The tiny dry particles of lint actually help keep the exhaust ducts clean with their abrasive action.

I noticed on that dryer under the lint door, the signal volume control replaced where the bottle of poppers goes in earlier Kenmore dryers, like this 1967..when did this ever so handy feature disappear?[this post was last edited: 12/15/2017-08:35]
I am very upset with myself
For letting go of my 1980's Whirlpool top mount lint filter dryer. I have a speed queen dryer and although it is good, the whirlpool was better. Fast, no overdry, easy to service and very reliable.
