Lady Kenmore on Ebay

This one turned up today, in Chicago. I'm not sure of the year, but am guessing late 70's maybe? I drove to Anniston, AL this past Saturday (about 1 hour east of Bham) and found a similar one in a used appliance business. The one that I found had a copper/bronze backplate on the console. Same black "padded" hood, same timer/switch placement, same lamp over the timer, but a copper/bronze backplate in lieu of the black backplate that this one has. Never seen one like that before! Was actually somewhat tempting, just from a novelty standpoint.

Those with the copper face are maybe TOL's. Not sure what the significance of the odd color but you don't see many around anymore. Could be somewhat rare.

This particular rendition of the center dial LK wasn't around for a whole lotta years. The unusual abou it is there's a separate little knob for optional rinse as well as a knob for the soak only or soak to wash option. The later versions combined these two knob's functions into one knob. The 3-knob version was a response to Sears cost-cutting measure.

This is a 1985 Model Washer, just exactly like the one I bought new for my Parent's in Mid-1985, along with the Matched Electric Dryer. I got them actually as the "Demo" Set and at a grately reduced Price, since I happened to know one of the Sears Salesmen and he even got me his Employee Discount. They really didn't have very much usage, especially the Dryer. Just in case of any possible problems, I added the Sears Maintanence Agreement to them for 3-years and I believe that my Parent's extended it a few times as well. Needless to say, the Washer did need eventually a new Belt and it had developed a Leak, that I believe was one of the Pump Hoses and the Dryer needed a new Heating Element, so even though we didn't really use the full value of the "MA" Agreement, it was good that we did have it, so as to not having to pay any further for the Repairs. I've ended up needing to get all new Tub Seals and I replaced the Side-Check Valve Seal/Gasket as well and now both Washer and Dryer are still quite operational. I did end up some time ago, having to Re-Paint the Black Top of the Console of the Washer, because it had gotten somewhat Scratched and peeled Paint. The Dryer's is still looking fairly good, but I thinking about Re-Painting it mainly to have them both look like new, rather than one looking new and the other not.

Thank You Appnut for explaining the extra knob. I should have read all the posts first. Instead I looked at the pictures for 10 minutes trying to figure it out. All the ones I remember had the combined "cycle modifier" is what I think they called it.

Did anyone happen to check out the spin speeds??? 1140 on low 1745 on high...wow faster then a unimatic.. LOL can we say typo
My gram had this machine from the time I was a little kid till just last year, It was ok I always liked my 1-18 better

I just looked back at the listing, and I'm fairly sure that is the Motor's Low/High Speed and not the actual Washer's Spinning Speed's. The actual Spin Speed on Low is around 450-RPM and around 750-RPM and possibly even up to around 800-RPM to 850-RPM for the High Speed Spin.

Those numbers sound like motor rpm's, not spin speeds.

Wouldn't an LK of this vintage automatically be an electronic control machine?

Yes, there was/is also an Electronic Touch Control Model Lady-K as well as the Mechanical Model. I've got actually the 1982 Model matched Set, in the Coffee Color. I don't remember for sure what the Electronic Touch Control Model looked like in 1985, but they are similar to the Mechanical Model's in some years of Manufacturing, where some years are slightly different looking Controls and Consoles.

For a few years Sears called the electronic control model the "Limited Edition".

There is a black "Limited Edition" currently listed on Ebay. It has been listed before and apparently did not sell.
