Lady Kenmore

I would like to hear some information from some of the old timers here about a Lady Kenmore electric clothes dryer. I recently found one on a man's curbside trash pile. He told me it worked, which it di. It is gold in color. It has a plastic sliding door that is woodgrain. The door slides up and down to hide all the controls. Please let me know if I have found a valuable machine. I have no pics of it to show but it is in extremely good condition. The man said that it had never left his washroom since he brought it home from the store. He is very old and couldnt tell me how old it was, just that he knew he had had it a long time.

Sounds like a dryer that could have been sold between 1969 or 1970 until 1974. I loved the "garage door" LKs.

Yes, I tend to agree with you on the age of it. The garage door is in perfect working order. I am wanting to know if I should keep this machine or go ahead and sell it as I do all my electric dryers that I re-condition for profit. I am not really a collector but I feel that it may be sacreligos to sell off such a machine for 50-60 bucks. Should I tuck it away or sell it in another market other than straight up used machines markets.

What color is it? I would wait and see if any of the Kenmore officanods here wantit. Those were excellent dryers. Can ya post a pic or two?

If this dryer is the one I "THINK" you're describing, then this dryer was manufactured from 1969 until 1975. Differences being that the 1969-71 models had the curved metal handles on the full-width door, and then went with the plastic notch handles from 1972 until the final models were produced in 1975.

These are beautiful dryers, and more importantly, excellent performers. In my opinion, a 1969-71 Lady Kenmore Washer and Dryer set is a set worth having.

Had I have room for such a creature right now, I would snap that one up in a jiffy. But since I don't, I'm sure there are other Kenmore fans (other than myself, for which I am also a Kenmore fan) that would love to get their hands on that beauty.

You could always try EPay,if no one here wants it. I have a few collectables,sitting in a storage building,that I've come across over the years. I won't sell them with the rest of the trade ins I aquire,just hanging on to them right now.

Lady K Dryer

I have a '72 Lady K set, in Tawny (Gold) love them. I would keep it.
whats the model number? that will tell you the year of it.

The dryer is gold in color, with like a darker tone of gold around all the edges of the machine as if one would have painted the machine gold and then took an airbrush and faded some darker tone of gold around all the edges. I doubt that there are any manufactures nowadays that would put such craftsmanship into their paintjobs anymore. The door opens from the top to bottom rather than being a swinging type. The handle is the only thing missing on this unit. I plan on replacing it. I have many old doors with the same opening as the Lady Kenmore that I can snatch one off of.
