Roasted chicken with potatoes and carrots which was cooked this.

A Sunbeam electric skillet with a crock pot insert. Tim (Polkanut) sent me the skillet as a housewarming gift when we moved into the new house. I've used it several times, but this was the first time I used the crock insert. The meal was delicious (patting myself on the back). For desert I made semi homemade chocolate cake; the cake was homemade and the frosting came from work. I used my Sunbeam harvest gold Mixmaxter to make the cake.Sorry no pics of the cake

Jim,

I'm just glad that the skillet is in a loving home, and being used instead of sitting on a shelf collecting dust. Thanks for the pics!

The laundry room is quite small, when I had front load washer in there it was a real pain the washer door when opened was in font of the dryer, so loading the dryer was always a pain in the ass.

I love having the washer and dryer upstairs, even though the basement here is pretty nice, the stairs aren't, they are uneven and a little on the rickety side.

Looks fantastic! Yummy!
How long does it take to cook a meal like this?
I have never seen one with the crock pot insert.
I can smell it when I look at your pictures!

Brent, I started that chicken around 1 pm, and it said in the book to cook for 7 to 8 hours, and if remember right it took either somewhere between 6 and 7 hours, because I cooked it at a higher temperature. There is a recipe in the book that came with the pan for a potato salad that is cooked and served warm that I'm dying to try out. There are all sorts of yummy recipes in the book from sauces to pot roast.

Alan, I would love to get those steps first the first set is fine but the second set, well.... take a look for yourself at the pic, I think the second set should replaced all together.

Here's view from the front, they are also quite narrow.

Yummy! The Potato Salid sounds yummy also.
I am on a goal to find one with the Crock insert now.
Thanks for giving me the itch!

Those stairs do look very uncomfortable to use. Is there a wall at the end of the stairs? The rise and run are screwed up, one common reason is there is limited space to get the proper run. You need at least 3' between the end of the stairs and a facing wall.

In all the years of going to estate sales that is the only Sunbeam skillet I've seen like it. From what I can remember about this sale, the man of the house had been a district sales manager for Sunbeam. Just about every small appliance that Sunbeam produced was in that house. In fact, I even have a Sunbeam electric pencil sharpener sitting on my desk from this sale as well. This skillet was bought before I knew about AW.org. It was well used, but lovingly cared for from what I remember.

A friend of ours has a set of stairs like that in his townhouse. The rear stairway to be exact. It goes from the third floor down to the first floor. And the height of each stair gets taller and taller as you approach the bottom steps. The stair threads can't be more than 6" deep. It's very uncomfortable to use as well as dangerous, especially when going down them. You feel as if you are going to lose your footing any moment.
I wonder why they built these like that? There must be a reason?

We have had that same electric skillet for the better part of 30 years. Still works perfectly, but the numbers have worn off the control so you have to guess what the temp is. Kind of like cooking with gas.

There are not too many options to fix the stairs if there is a wall facing them 2-3' away -- odds are that is why they are as they are. One possibility if you have head room, most often you don't is to make a landing at the end and turn the remainder of the steps 90 degrees. That would allow you to correct the rise and run, but short of that as i said there are not too many options.

.

Looks like the risers (vertical) were added later, while the treads (hoirizontal) are orignal. The difference between the distance (height) of the individual steps may not be greater than 1 inch by law for safety.

Nice! Had never seen a crock associated with a fry pan!

When is dinner served?

I made some linguini in one pot, and some chicken, stove-top, in-the-pot style with tomato sauce, onions and cinnamon, peasant style. Added one cup of water and let the sauce boil (once the chicken was removed). The sauce cooks in the meat drippings and is beyond tasty. Only do this occasoinally as the cholesterol and fat levle must be through-the-roof!

Boy was it a blast from when my grandparents were alive!

That looks yummy Toggles! Friday will be grocery day, and I'm thinking of getting either a pork or beef roast to try in it next. I'm also going the try the cooked potato salad recipe this weekend too.

I was going to put the out of commission Frigidaire front loader in the basement, with the help from a couple of friends, but decided not because the steps didn't look that safe, and I didn't want anyone to get hurt in the process. I would like to have some wider safer steps put in, there's a lot of room down there for washers and dryers :-)

I made fried chicken in the skillet, sorry no pics camera batteries dead again ugh! It was scrumptious there goes my cholesterol level.
