Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

What a GREAT find! I love that is "solid state"! My Dad trained as a radio repairman in the army, so he always knew how to fix out old vacuum tube televisions. When he thought it was about time for a new TV sometime in the early 70s, solid state circuitry was being rolled out. He was angry that the vacuum tube circuits were being phased out, because didn't know how to work on solid state circuitry. He searched high and low for a new set that used only vacuum tube. He finally bought a TV at Sears because it was only "50% Solid State"!

Yeah, going from tubes to solid state was rough for old school technicians. As I was learning electronics in high school it was the early 70s so I got to learn and figure out everything. Tubes were easier because they were self contained and modular so you just replaced the tube causing the issue and you were good to go and in a pinch there were all kinds of similar tubes you could substitute if you didn't have the exact match. My first, and the families first, color TV was a 69 Zenith 23" tube set I bought with my berry picking money I saved all summer in 74 used for 115 bucks.

Well,I would hate or is it love?to see the TUBED version of this washer! Not just for TV's I have a hard time adapting to SS transmitters. In bulk--the SS 1Mw Med wave transmitter actually takes up MORE space than an equivilent tubed model!and really--the efficiency isn't that much better.

You are remembering the TV ad wrong. The Frigidaire sucked down the sock in a matter of seconds and the Kenmore was still working on pulling it down at the end of the commercial.

The last Belt drive Electronic Kenmore control panel was this pair.

The DD Electronic pair used the same control panel while the MFG was changing production of the new washer design.
