Sorry....

Sorry i had to pull out Mike. Am still pretty annoyed about it, would've been great to meet you all in person and see the machines.

Looks like you all had a wicked time. Hopefully i'll be more sorted & in a position to see the machines and everyone once youre in your new place.

Liam :)

coooool

Looks like everyone had an awesome time!

I'm currently in the USA at the moment but living at a camp without washers and dryers so its boring handwashing all the way!! (dislike)

Its sad the old UK wash in place is going into retirement for a little while.
I am planning on spending christmas and new year in my home town of sheffield as i am missing a good old English Christmas, i was going to be cheeky and ask to come and meet everyone if possible :-)

Good Luck With The Move

Thanks for all the great pictures. Sure is great to put faces with names! Good luck with the move.

Matthew, where abouts in the US are you? Maybe if you're close enough to one if us, we can help you get your laundry 'fix'... If you were close enough to me, I'd think about bringing the 57 Maytag wringer. Talk about camp laundry done right...

Those a great pictures Mike!!!! I wish you the best with the move, I've been there before myself. Its not easy, but it certainly can be done.

WOOOOOOOOOW!

I dont know how I missed your thread!

That is one super awesome collection! Nice thing about front loaders is you can stack em so neatly! Hard to have so many top loaders!

Beautiful!

LOVE LOVE LOVE the vacuums! WOW! That GE upright is so fantastic. Love that bag. Oh its just perfect!!!!!!!!!! :D
I have a GE vacuum from the 40s. Its all original. But oh it doesnt have that neat bag, or that style of wooden handle. :P

PIANO!
What a gorgeous piano too! Do share details please!

Oh I can go on for days! :)

From down in Kent...

Hey Mike

Sorry we couldnt be there, but we were there in spirit- and the A3112 did a load in your honour ! :).

It really is the end of an era in so many ways, but heres to the new one and hoping it will be great :).

Good Luck With Move

Hi Mike.

The photos you posted on here are great.

Good Luck with your move.

Warm Regards

Paul

And its not just washers

but vacuum cleaners too. Members on Vacuumland will have already seen pics of my Morphy Richards, but here is just a quick look at what Bob and Neil did for me. I still owe them big time for the thought and care they devoted on restoring a very sad looking machine - which was not even theirs! Not only does it look good, it runs quiet and smooth as well

The last round up

It was a little sad that it would be the last wash-in at Mikes, but I know his next venue will be even better than the old one. It may not be immediatly apparant from the pics at the begninning of the thread how the washers and driers are, as far as possible, matched sets. And that is only a part of the collection :)

It was a shame some of the old familiar faces were not able to make it this time, so the guys had to make do with my old, and sadly far too familiar, face instead. But here's to the next time lads :)

Matt, if you are in the UK at the end of the year, there will be a "washer welcome" for you - most of the collectors are in the Midlands so close to Sheffield, or if you want a trip down south there are other collectors down here too, who would also be pleased to welcome you :)

'Al gives Jack a lesson in the art of not shrinking vest

I actually fell out of my chair laughing at that one, Mike!

Thanks so much for everything, it was a wonderful weekend, as it always is. Great appliances, great food, and most importantly, great company. Catching up with friends I've known for years, and meeting several new ones this time! And it's not the end of an era - it's the start of a new adventure, which is much more exciting! :)

Huge thanks from me personally to Al, too, for his hospitality, and for having taken me to and from each of our gatherings - without that, I wouldn't have been able to attend!

I didn't take many photos this time round, and my videos were of vacs - here's one from our journey up: passing one of my favourite places on Earth!

Mike (and others) - cheers for another fantastic weekend! Really enjoyed it, was great once again.

Unfortunately I was so busy I forgot to take photos myself, had a great twinny filled afternoon on Sunday with Al. I think the twinny bug has finally bitten ;).

Here's to many more meet ups, I'm sure others will agree that you may be able to replace the venue but you definitely can't replace all the good fun, food and hospitality.

Take care all,

Jon

(And may I please apologise for the state of my hair in the 5th photo, I look a bit windswept it seems lol)

Hi Mike (and everyone)

Thanks so much for such a nice time, was great to see all the machines and use them, and great to meet everyone, met some lovely new friends (and caught up with existing ones too)

All the best.

Matt
