I have a corelle smooth top oven and the oven door won't close properly unless you wiggle the door around to get it to close. Any suggestions on how to fix latch.

Hopefully....

John combo52 or someone else knowledgeable will be able to help you to figure out the latch adjustment, if one is possible; sometimes latches wear and are of a design where they can't be adjusted.

You said you have "A Corelle smooth-top oven." Just to let you know, the cooktop on your range is Pyroceram, the glass-ceramic material classic Corning Ware was made of. Corelle is made of a laminated glass called Vitrelle, a different substance altogether. Vitrelle could not possibly be used for a smooth-top; it cannot take the direct heat involved.

Thanks for the info regarding the top. I said corelle because that is what I was told it was. Thought it was weird at the time but working on my knowledge of 70's era appliances as my entire house has them.

Dragonfly, what a week for oven trouble...

We had a Litton in our last house. The locking latch for self cleaning folded down flush with the oven door for normal use. I hope it is something this simple. If you have a pushbutton marked "unlock" and it buzzes when pushed. The tab on the door should fold down out of the way... I too hope John, Combo52 reads this thread. I am understanding that this stove "came with the house without an instruction manual"? One more thing. Could the whole door be out of alignment?

I venture to say, I would imagine most everyone here would love for you to post pictures of everyone of your appliances. Thank you in advance.

Bob (appnut) has a good point - if you can take some photos of the range and post them, that will help others identify both the range's origins and the latch problem. Corning did not make this range itself, if I'm right - it was made by someone else for Corning. What that probably means is that the latch is the same as on another brand.

Some photos of the range overall would be great eye candy. But photos of the latch area would be extremely helpful in getting your problem identified and resolved.

P.S.: It would also be helpful if you put a first name in your profile, so folks here know what to call you. Doesn't even have to be your real one, just something we can use to avoid saying "Hey You." :)
