Greetings!
I know this probably belongs in the Deluxe forum due to the machine being an early '90's model but I thought I'd ask here as this is a semi-vintage question. My in-laws have an RCA (very basic GE Filter Flo/Hotpoint clone) washer and matching dryer languishing in their basement. The washer's transmission leaks oil badly causing the belt to slip (and a big oily mess underneath.) My question is, should I try to save it or is it crusher fodder? I have heard that with the late Filter Flos GE had cheapened the transmissions (more plastic) and they aren't bulletproof like earlier models.
Any thoughts are appreciated!
Thanks,
Andrew S.
