Better than New

I can actually enjoy the gas ranges from the 50's. They seem to cook much more evenly and the control for lower heats like simmering was much better than anything new.

Oh. My. Gawd.

I am an electric range kinda guy, but that beauty gives even me a twingle. Love those simmer burners. Chili, anyone?

Burner Adjustments...

I cleaned the valves and re packed them, but evidently not clean enough, the simmer adjustments are not right, so im going to take it all apart again and soak everything in some kind of solvent, this stove has set over twenty years so everything was gummed up, the oven seems fine.

Love Those Simmer Buttons !

I love those big burners with the simmer buttons. The burners are a nice size, and really spread the flame out. Those simmer buttons are perfect for truly simmering, and not low boiling. My parents had a 1960 Gaffers & Sattler coppertone cooktop that had these. You could really simmer well with these, and keep stuff hot without continuing to cook the item. You can't do that with the gas stoves of today.
That's why now days, I stick with a GE electric stovetop. Very controlable, and it simmers well.
Hugs,
David
