Aside from the previous posting of apps I found this month, I already posted pics of the '31EASY and here are two more. Feast or famine, I have not picked up anything since last October and now eight in the last month. Below is a pic of the broken piece of the side of the outer tub in the WP that I need to replace. I don't know how or why it could have snapped apart the way it did but the WP spins fine, although the motor does seem abnormally loud and it won't agitate, it just hums. I think there is an issue with the "self-clean" filter. Will try to post pics of outer tub, hose breakage and filter here below.

FAB Whirpool

Gregm,
I posted a few threads back that I had been to Spokane
visiting friends in mid April and had clumsily let (it was
identical to your post) one of these slip away. I assumed it was operational; tho the lint filter was removed and in the tub. I think it had been reduced to a clearance price of
$39.99! I wasn't really in a good position to just snatch it right then and there and when I went back a few days later it was gone! Damn!!! Does yours have tub illumination? I love those silver cap black surgilators. yay for you!

Those check valves usually break because it was transported or laid on that side of the machine. I broke alot of them hauling them that way. Good lesson for others hauling belt drive machines with the check valve or lint filter on the side of the tub. Transport them and lay them on the right side if you need to lay it down. Or better yet, support the tub to limit movement if you can.

Broken connector

Nice machine Greg!WAYTOGO! Love the light up console. I think the broken part is a connector for the lint filter and drain outlet. It is not the same as the lint filter/drain valve on my 65 KM,however it looks close. I think that is what it is. This is located on the left rear corner of the cabinet? Then that is what is should be. You will have to pull the spin basket to change that part.

Rick, That is a side check valve. yours may have an estra port that connects to the dispenser but it is the same thing. It allows recirculation during agitation and stops the circulation back into the tub on drain.

On second look, it is probably identical to yours, except for the color maybe. This one does have the third port for the dispensers.

Greg, it's been a LOOONG time since I"ve seen this GE washer. My fav about it is the little option buttons. BTW, I think that Whirly is more like a 1964 or 1975 because it has both w'n'w and the 'new fangled' permanet press underneath that. A stretch would be 1966, but I think it's more like 64 or 65. Ya never cease to amaze me. Bob

WP

I know the WP is an LPA, I can get the model # later today and post and many thanks to "coldspot" for getting me a new "check valve" ......... I don't believe the washer is newer than '65. They guy I got it from said '60, but I think its a '63 or '64. Again, I will post the model # of both the WP and GE later ......... have a good day all.

At Last!

After hanging around for 2 1/2 years on this fab website, I finally see the console styling of the GE we had when I was a kid! I love the horizontally arranged buttons! I miss that machine! Thanks for posting the pics!

What was the last year of RCA Whirlpool?

model # 's .......

ok the WP is a model # LPA9900W0 with serial 07263J634

and the GE is model WWA9500 (7 ?) or (1 ?) with
serial LL 143 438G

BEAUTIFUL finds!!! Both are nice, TOL machines, and that GE is FAB with the wide horizontal buttons (and narrower "Osterizer-style" buttons as well). I'd take that one in a split second!!!

Congratulations!

That GE is awsome. I've seen the small pushbuttons used before but never the large horizontal ones. I hope you find a lamp lens for it. The Whirlpool is great too. I'm always confused about the age of these machines. My grandmother had one with the exact console style exept it was a Supreme 80 not Imperial. She always said she bought it in 1967. The exact same machine is in the museum section and it is said to be a '67 also. Can any of you Whirlpool model number experts tell us for sure?

Ed

LMA would be around 1964, as witnessed by our LME-4600 dryer that was bought in 1964 (early part of the year, I believe), to go with the LJA-3200 washer from Jan 1962. So LPA should be 1966/1967, theoretically.

I don't believe N and O were used for year designations at that time.
