I know - I haven't posted for a while. I should be back in the States for a few months. And I promise to post my finds more frequently. I got a bigger storage unit which means that I can keep more things! So now....presenting (sorry they're still dusty) a Frigidaire WN7 in Aztec Copper with a window lid.

So I'm not a Kenmore expert

but it has this agitator in it. The chrome lint filter is still in place.

Rich!! That Kenmore washer, I haven't seen that since I was 10 or 11 years old. Neighbors on the opposite side (the other side had the LK Combo) had this washer. That washer made me want to replace our 1955 GE with a Kenmore. The W'n'W cycle shifts from regular to gentle agitation at the 4 or 6 minute mark. another hcildhood memory resurrected. thank you!!! (I actually thought it was a 1960 model

Wow those are all beautiful! That Gold Crown Rapid Dry is the same one my mom had when I was a youngster. I really envy the relics you all dig up!

What year is the WN7 from? Looks like a '67 or '68. Howabout an inside shot?

the Kenmore looks sweet. The waterfall filter and the pregnant roto-swirl agitator are my favorites. Does the script on the front say "Cycla-Fabric"?

What is on timer knob? I can see the word "speed". Is that a number "8" on it also? Can't make out the details.

My mom had a similar washer in 1967...only Norman and Gentle speeds.

WP, KM Wash &Wear slow up

Sorry guys, but I have never liked that the agi slowed down at the 6 or 4 mark point on the dial. A normal size load that had great turnover during the "regular" speed had "no" turnover at the slower speed. Things just didn't get as clean as they should have. I know from experience, having done my family's laundry starting when I was 12 with a WP from 1965. The cool down was great but the change in speed, especially in the rinse cycle was just plain dumb. I didn't overload the thing, and I would change it back and forth from regular to pp so the agi speed would stay fast. The slow spin speed was OK I guess, but later when I got a Tag where the PP cycle was shorter and had a good drain and refill cool down with a regular spin speed but shorter time length worked perfectly all of the time. Everything got very clean AND didn't wrinkle.

What's worse is that I had a condo with a 10 (1987) year old WP in it pretty far up the line of models and it did the same damn thing. I could only put 1 pair of pants and about 4 dress shirts in it or everything just floated on the top during the last part of the wash. Just stupid IMO.

My 20.00 dollars worth--since 2 cents doesn't mean anything anymore.

That's a '2' on the timer knob indicated it's a two speed machine.

Yes, Durable Press Care is the correct answer.

I wondered the same question for years when I saw this designation and then found it explained in some literature.

That is my favorite model of all time!!!!!!!!!!!!I had different ones while in Appliance class in high school.One was avacado green two were white and one was coppertone.My AuntMargaret had the matching DPC Flowing Heat Electric dryer.Her timer dial on it only turned clockwise and felt like a washer timer as you'd turn it.My other aunt in New Jersey,Aunt Lou,replaced her 1957 Bendix Duomatic with a white Frigidaire Gold Crown Jet Action washer and electric dryer 1968.She had them 17 years and moved to Colorado(Bolder) with her daughter Patty,who had Maytags.Aunt Margaret also had a Frigidaire Custom Imperial 30 inch range from 1963!She now lives in Florida and is a cancer serviver.I love her dearly!!! We just recently had a great phone chat a few weeks agne of the ones I had,I switched the agitator to a 3 ring and what a difference the flatter energy ring made!The clothe would all come out in one piece!!LOL

Question about Frigidaire?

Are the Durable Press and Wasn&Wear actual speed selections, or are they just suggested uses of the Normal or Gentle settings?

Love the Frigidaire! Window lids are always so fun. The 59 Kenmore looks very nice as well. I do not recall ever seeing that control panel before.
The dryer top is a 1956. It does light up, and would be a match to my 56 Kenmore.

Keep them coming Rich, and please don't forget, I still need a Rollermatic Rapidry transmition for my 1960 Custom Imperial. <:

Gary, durable press was a slow agitation and medium spin speed. W'n'W, if it was anything like the setting on the WCI65, I do believe it is a regular agitation speed and slow spin speed. Steve 1/18 had several of these, but similar models, and all those I saw of his only had durable presss, not the 4th setting, W'n'W.

That KM Gas dryer was a High-Speed model, 37,000 BTU's to blast away that residual moisture left from the 525 rpm spins ;-)

Rick, that control panel style was in the 1969 Sears Catalogue huge washer section gansky posted a few months back (the one that started with the LK Combo W/D). That was the first time I'd seen that washer since Thanksgiving 1966.

ROFL..........oh i would never harm trainguy....he helped me out of a jam when i screwed up the transmission on my '65 Roller-Matic........But i would drive the 16 hours (one way) to get that Gold Crown if Rich is thinking about letting it go to a good home.......(hint hint) lol.
