Bob...

I'm with you on the Slinky Stuff.  I bought a few to try them and just feel weird. Champion and Adidas make all cotton tops.  That's what I prefer too.

Suds... I rarely use LCB. I have a Miele as well and I use the Extra White Program sometimes with the Prewash selected. Rosalie's or Persil and a scoop of STPP.  The Hot water kills anything in it's way. And my Kitchen T Shirts I wear (White) really do come out dazzling.  I also put my Kitchen Sponges in the Dishwasher too. I either lay them down in the top rack or stand them up if there is not too much silverware in the Flatware basket. Works like a charm. As a matter of fact, they're washing right now.

I quite like wicking fabrics for running. They're just much lighter and if you're working out very hard it beats being in sopping wet fabric. However, my typical workout is pretty gruelling...

Fresh sweat doesn't actually smell bad, what stinks is bacteria that grows in stale sweat.

The important thing with gym gear is when you get home, wash it *immediately*. Don't leave it sitting in a bag.

There shouldn't be any issues with smells if your clothes are washed promptly.

Also, those fabrics aren't actually 'dirty', they're just sweaty so, they really just need relatively quick washing but, with a good detergent.

They will become smelly if you don't wash them promptly, not because of the sweat but because of what will grow in the sweat if you don't do that.

Towels are used 3 or 4 days (less if it's humid) and then hung up in bedroom with dehumidifier until dry. Towels are washed once per week in hot water with Persil, a splash of ammonia and a splash of vinegar in lieu of fabric softener.

Linens once weekly the same way.

Sweat-soaked shirts (the norm this summer) are hung up to dry then tossed into the hamper. Washed once weekly in warm water with Persil, etc.

I agree fresh sweat can actually smell good, but by the time I'm home after a 10-12 hour work day I'm confident I'm smell a tad stale, lol.

I wear the slinky stuff for workout. I wear Nike DryFit shirts and shorts both in the color black.  They cling tight to your body - follow your body's contour,   to wick the sweat off. So while working out or bike riding I feel hot but never sweaty.  I usually wash the body parts that might get smelly before wearing the shirts and I can wear them about twice before washing.  They clean well in cold water with any detergent and any odors are completely removed.  Lovin it.
