Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

David, the model 35 convertible is relatively rare, and perhaps unfortunately for any of our pocketbooks, I'm not surprised to see the bid amount, esp. being in such nice condition.

Oops, I stand corrected on looking at the ad again...this one is not a model 35, it's from the 1970s sometime. Nice cleaner...

Thats model U4089

circa 1976, and the LAST rear conversion, narrow bag convertible. This was a promo model, and could be bought new at discount stores for $59.95 with a 1031 set of tools.

As to the bidders: Without being too unkind, one is a little troll who sends you hate mail thru ebay if you out bid him. I don't know who the other is, but these two meatsticks have been fighting and bidding prices way WAY up the past couple of weeks. Most every older Hoover Convertible has approached $200 before the auction is over.
The irony is the one is actually in the vacuum business and should be able to find whatever they want, but instead they get into pi**ing contests on ebay and then throw tantrums when they don't win.

I would say that neither one is the sharpest tool in the shed..

hate mail?!?

Mr Parker, i dont understand. perhaps you can offer a sample/transcript of said communication? lol!

yes hate mail

A friend of mine outbid him on a UK Convertible last summer, and he got hate mail, something to the effect of "you're gonna regret that"

The guy is a total jerk

hate mail

Yes, Jeff is correct in that I did receive hate mail from a person whom I outbid. He/she said that I would regret doing that (bidding the cleaner up so high) and that the next time I wanted something he/she would make it not happen. I mean ebay is a free market right? Now it seems that it is a sellers market. I could sell all of my convertibles and buy my own space shuttle! I mean some of these prices are ridiculous. Case in point this yellow convertible of the mid 1970s. They made several hundred thousand of these and I have scrapped a few and saved a few. I cannot justify the high price. Although I am tempted to sell mine!!! The lesson here...be kind life is short and precious. Play nice on ebay everyone and have fun!

wow

i know who you all are talking about. this guy has bought my items before and ive talked to him on the phone. he has lots of flattering things to say and i even told him about this site, OOPS! he will bid on ANY convertible, seems like. he bid something like 600 dollars on a new in box guardsman i sold. what yall describe is so sad and childish. David

NO BS David

I had emails from that person too, little full of themselves they are, but thats just my opinion.

I agree with Tom, Ebay is a free market, and everyone has equal opportunity to bid. Sending out hate mail because you didn't win an auction is just plain childish.
I just wonder why its the same two people running the prices on this stuff way up?
As for me, said person is BLOCKED from bidding on anything I list for sale on ebay.

model U4089

Hey Jeff, I always love reading your posts! LOL! Say, did the model have a white band at the top of the otherwise yellow bag. I remember a yellow covertible model that had a yellow bag except where the bag attached to the chain ( my lack of a better word) it was white. Correct me if i'm wrong. Marty
