Laundromats, laundries, dry cleaners are dropping like flies. This was before covid-19 mess hit, which has just made things worse.

More casual dressing, more homes with their own laundry appliances, areas becoming more upscale (higher income households prefer their own washers/dryers over laundromats), and just general high costs of doing business are causing decline.

Laundromats in particular are often hugely sensitive to changes in cost of doing business. An increase in rent, fuel, water/sewage charges can make a place no longer profitable. There are just natural limits to how much a local market will pay.
