Laundry Room Makeover - Frigidaire Style!

Wonderful display Greg, hope to see it in person sometime. Doing my laudry room over as my winter project. How many of the washers and dryers can you run at once? I can run all my washers at once, but only one elect dryer and a gas dryer so far........the limits of electricity!

Excellent arrangement Greg, with the Control Towers sitting at their "throne" on the back wall!!! Like Steve said, I hope you didn't kick the WO-65 and TR-60 out to make from for everything else!! Definitely much different than it looked during the Convention...perhaps you should post some pictures of your whole basement and what has changed recently?

That's a cool Frigidaire to the right of the '59 dryer, with the bug-eye controls...what year is this machine from? ;-)

Entering Greg's basement is like stepping back in time, and walking into a 1950's or 1960's appliance showroom...definitely breathtaking when you haven't seen it before!!!

Don't worry anyone, the Maytag 906's are safe and sound hibernating for the time being in the spare bedroom downstairs. I should start a B&L (Bed and Laundry), how many other places can you go and have a Maytag washer for a vanity??

Jimmy, the power situation is rather slim in that room, you can run one unimatic and another machine at the same time but unless you time the unimatics properly, you can't run them both together. Only one of the Filtrators can be plugged in at the same time, but why would anyone want to run more than one anyway?

The other three machines behind the wall, 49 Westinghouse, 64 Hotpoint and 60 GE are still where they were in June but I've moved some things around in the other room and will take some pics in the next few days.

Sheer Look Arrangement

I never thought of that, Louis! How right you are!

The WO-65 and the TR-60 Frigidaires are in the rumpus room ;-) now, also hibernating for a while... Everything gets a turn, there just isn't enough space for everything all at once.

That's beautiful, gansky! I just can't believe how radically different the '56-59 machines were. The '59 control dial looks a bit like it could be on a Kenmore. I've never seen a '59 in person. Can you imagine one of today's manufacturers allowing for so many changes in design each year? It would never happen. Must have been an exciting time to work as a design engineer for Frigidaire...

I too like that 59 Frigidaire set. I think these and the 1960 TOL w/d designs were Frigidaire at their best. Beautiful machines Greg one and all.

I've said once before that the 50's and the 60's Frigidaire
laundry equipment were the best in design and built for quality them and also Westinghouse. When I was growing up it was considered that if you could afford a Frigidaire or Westinghouse and/or Norge and even Maytag you had the very best money could buy and were well off.

Wouldn't it be great if manufacturers could give their R&D folks and engineers a free rein to come up with exciting, innovative ideas? I say "bring back control towers and jet action!"
