Leaking tub on my Maytag wringer washer

I have what I believe is a Model N 1945-6 "Chieftain" Maytag washer. It works excellently except for the fact that the tub has developed a serious leak. I am hoping it is a failed seal of some kind. Has anyone had this problem and managed to repair it? If so, how did you manage to do it. Also the nuts that lock down the drain seem to be corroded to the point they may crack on removal. Is there a special tool to reach around this nut to loosen it? No Maytag company or dealer that I have contacted has ever heard of a Model N wringer washer Maytag.

The machine you have described is a round porcelain Tub? Correct. Your pics didn't load.
Do you have a pump? Or is it gravity drain?
I presume you have checked the hose to see if it has a hole. ( I know it sounds simplistic. but I hope it is what is wrong.)
And with a bright light check all around the tub. To see if there may be a rusted thru spot.

The funny bolts are gulmite bolts, and they do require a special tool. Available on ebay.
To remove them by other methods have been successful. But can also can damage the center plates threaded
holes that attach to the tub. And the Gear box ( transmission) or sometimes called power unit.

Gasket/ Yes there is a rubber gasket under the plate. And yes I suppose it can fail. To fix that you need the special wrench.

You will probably not find anyone in the now existing appliance service depts. that will be able to help.

I've removed the bolts before with vice grips. If you don't have the wrench.
