leaving on a road trip to maryland

tomorrow morning to pick up a 1965 rollermatic custom deluxe in turquoise.

this will be my 7th rollermatic although one was severly rusted and had to be stripped down as a parts machine.

this will most probably be my last rollermatic unless ofcourse i find another 1965 custom imperial like the one i have.

never been to maryland, should be interesting. 8 hr. drive from cinti. and i hope to be back home early friday afternooon.

hopefully i won't drop this one of the truck!!

A little "Balmerese dair". You should hook up with John laFever and Tom Steyer while there. They have some of the best machines aquired and working. In being two of the most intelectual appliance collectors/restorers and historians, it would be great if you could get together with them.The last time Ii was there, John had fully restored and installed a GE combo washer/dryer and has a beautiful,fully stocked pantry with a GE combination refrigerator freezer and the matching seperate upright GE freezer.Both from the early 60s.Of course,one visit will not even put a dent in seeing all there is to see and admire. Between their hospitality and their love for appliances,I'm sure you'll be pinching yourself (like I did) to see if you're really their or dreaming about it. Have a safe journey!

well i went to maryland

and met ted (bygted on the site here).

his collection is fabulous! lots of old frigidaires, pulsamatics, unimatic, multimatic, a norge time line, old bendix's and a beautiful collection of old frigs and stoves!
and that is just the beginning! i mean he has lots!!!!!

he's a super nice guy and his wife is very nice and they have an adorable airdale named claire! i enjoyed meeting them, just wish i would have had more energy!

usually i take lots of pics but i was sick this past week and was feeling very low on energy. did not take one pic!!!

brought back a 1963 frigidaire dryer and a turquoise custom deluxe rollermatic that i believe is a 1966 model.

can't take pics yet as i am leaving the shrink wrap on till i find a place for them.

i hope to go back again some time and really look at his collection.

Peter, sorry you were feeling so under the weather. And din't get pics of his collection or him, his wife, and the airdale.

I do have a thought, if he has a bunch of old stoves, I wonder if he would have a broiler for Hans' new 1957 GE 40" double-oven range. Someone took the broiler element out of the large oven.

Oh and very thankful for no appliance mishaps this trip!! And your safe return!!

and yes, both washer and dryer were tied down very securely this time.

it will be a few weeks before i have any pics most probably. ted did say this washer works but i still intend to do the usual tear down and rebuild.

the dryer is a 1963

frigidaire custom deluxe. nothin special about it, i had no plans to buy a dryer but the price was 40 bucks and i had to grab it! it will be my oldest frigidaire. plus it's concole panel looks very similiar to the panel on my 1967 rollermatic so it will kinda match even tho it isn't a set.

it's still wrapped in shrink wrap so i can't get pics yet. i plan on getting them unwrapped next week sometime.
