Lemon Press collection

Here is another small collection that has come my way. First off, just the other day my mom gave us this lemon squeezer. I don't know, seems like she knows I have a bunch of old stuff so why would I need this new one.

(It was my idea to fit it on the pitcher, and it fits just right)

1936 or so

Picked this one up awhile back. It is supposed to be mounted on the wall. I haven't really used it but I am guessing it would not be too much fun to use.

This one works great

And I just used it just now. I've got a bit of a cold, so I mix one part lemon juice, one part raw honey, and eight parts whiskey and it works wonders.

This one is hard to beat

Just picked this up at a very interesting estate sale. The fellow was an antique dealer and had a barn full of stuff. This looked really nasty but to my eye it was going to be easy to clean up. Just had a All Saints party to make real lemon-aid.

Thanks for looking, don't know if there are any other variation out there...

I've seen one of those Sunkist types before, but can't remember where -- perhaps in an old or reproduction advertisement.  There are many variations on the one in reply #3.  I have a modern one that I use for juicing oranges one glassful at a time.

 

For lemonade I use the juicer attachment on my KA mixer.  If I'm just needing the juice of a half or whole lemon, I do what we used to do when I was a waiter making Caesar salads tableside:  Put the lemon half in a cloth napkin and squeeze out the juice into a bowl.

Memories Gone!

Oh, northwesty, those machines with little variations were such a staple on the New Jersey shore boardwalks! Both lemons and oranges went through them. A good press from a citrus taken out of a huge crate behind the counter. Squeezed in front of you into a waxpaper cup, add a tablespoon of sugar, water and ice. Heaven in an 8 oz. container!

The Garden State beachside stands that did this may be gone forever. But they'll never erase my memory. The boardwalk stand all painted in white enamel, the servers in white uniforms, and the slightly-sticky touch of everything except the napkins.

Enjoy yours often. And think of us in the Garden State. We may never see these again.

Lemon Press

Hi I'm an antiques dealer and have a Lemon press in stock I'll try and find time later to take a picture. It's silver plate in a leather travel case and was made to take to the hunt / sporting event

My in laws had the press in replay 3 brother in law has it now.  We have the Warever one front the 30's that was my grand parents.

These are all very interesting - I have a later version of your Sunkist juicer. More than the machines - I really like your cold remedy! Hope you feel better!

There are several stands like that (not as nice with white enamel and all, though) at the Brimfield shows. They pop the lemon into the squeezer, add some sugar, water and ice, sometimes the shell of the lemon, then serve. All right in front of you. They're not usually hurting for business!

I did collect some for awhile years ago but sold them at a flea market. I still have a very similar press like yours in pic 3. I think Reamers were one of the first "collectibles" to grab the general publics attention back in the late 60's early 70's and really started the collectors era on a big scale, them and cookie jars
