Tide has come out with a new line called 'Pure Essentials"..

Now, for those of you who know me well,I am usually not a fan of liquid detergent.
I took one whiff of this and was hooked!..They also have it available in powder, which I will buy when my stash depletes. I was able to convince the hubby to let me buy a small bottle at $5.99 to take with us in the RV this weekend. After all, I can't go 4 days with doing the wash! LOL..

Lemon Verbena Tide! Why, it smells just like what Miss Ellen wore at Tara, and what Rhett's mother wore in Charleston. I simply must get Prissy down to the Piggly Wiggly at Five Points to get some! I'll wash Ashley's underwear in it! Surely he does not have disnetery like the rest of the soldiers, and Mammy can prepare a special boiling pot.

Lemon verbena is a very hot scent in the aromatheraphy/house cleaning market, with Mrs. Meyer's leading the way. People buy gallons of that lemon verbena detergent, so guess Tide is jumping on the bandwagon.

Still, one has to wonder just how many bandwagons P&G is going to latch onto. Just a few months ago we had "Simple Pleasures", a full bottle of the lavender/rose still sits sitting un-unused in my laundry room since cannot stand the pong (thank god it was bought with a free coupon from Tide), and now we have this new "Pure Essentials" line.

As many here may recall P&G discontinued many versions/sizes of Tide late last year, with much of it going on sale. Indeed have never seen Tide on sale so often and so long, then it struck me that P&G was clearing the decks for the new line. Well that and the (3x)line that came out recently. One local shop has tons of shelf space empty in the Tide/Downy section of the the laundry area just waiting for the new products. In fact P&G has sent stores signs to post in these vacant areas announcing the "Pure Essentials" coming soon.....

My favourite Laundry Lady,

Seems to be a Lavender thing going on here in the UK. Bold 2in1 Lavender and Camomile, Lavender Lenor, Fairy (Dawn) potwashing liquid now is available in Lavender. Lavender Flash multi purpose cleaner. Lavender febreeze, even Pampers have Lavender baby wipes. Plus Reckitt Benckiser have so many Lavender sprays and toilet fresheners. Its driving me nuts cos I hate the stuf. Rob

Yeah, well Mrs. Meyer's detergent has a scent that completely rinses out----so why bother to pay that much for a detergent if the scent is important? I like the "Geranium". I will continue to buy the Meyer's bars of bath soap and pump-soap for the sink, but their expensive line of fabric softeners and detergents are not for me.

Funny how we all attach such different levels of importance to the different scents now available. In the old days, there was nothing better than "Oh Fab, I'm glad, there's lemon-freshened Borax in you!"

Well, one thing I don't like about the scented versions of Tide, at least the Lavender/Rose version, is that the scent does not rinse nor wash out easily. Also the stuff comes off on my ironing board and hands whilst ironing, so therefore must assume it rubs off on skin as well.

Did one load of sheets in the lavender/rose Tide, and three washings later the rinse water coming out of the Miele still had the scent. Used unscented Wisk detergent so know there is no problem there.

My favourite scented detergent is "White Clover" by Caldrea.

White Clover

Hello Laundress,
Oh yes White Clover is a beautiful scent. I have an abundance of White Clover in my lawn, I always let it bloom as the Bumble Bees and Honey Bees just love it. Anyway when I do finally cut the lawn when I pass through the Clover I am enveloped by the most wonderful scent.
I also love Lavender but the natural Lavender not those horrible synthetic versions.

Just the name "White Clover" sounds wonderful!
I wonder if it is possible to track some of it down to a British import store here in the States? Hmmmmm-----

Pure Essentials Web Site

This site is not totally accessible. Can't shut off the background music, which makes it difficult to listen to JAWS [Job Access with Speech]. Run it through the available Web validators in the Web Accessibility Initiative page, they would gag and choke to death.--Laundry Shark

Finishing Up My Rant...

Just to mention: Tide.com, Downy.com, and BounceEverywhere.com, along with the afore mentioned PureEssentials.com and other product variants [often displayed through a combo box in the Tide.com or PG.com sites]. Again, not too bad, but room for improvements in Web accessibility and compliance. Apologies for the off base banter, but am finally finished with my ranting.--Laundry Shark

Lemon Verbena Flavored Tide...

By the way, I did order a free sample of this "Pure Essentials" Tide variant. Still awaiting it's arrival through snail-mail, but anticipate its arrival any day.--Laundry Shark

Caldrea is an American company, with products sold in the United States. Just Google "Caldrea" and they should turn up.

The "White Clover" scent has been discontiuned for laundry products, but some vendors may have stock on hand, as the decision was not too long ago.

I like Caldrea detergent for laundering bed linens, just add a dash of STPP and enzymes to complete the potion, as the detergent powder already contains sodium percarbonate bleach.

Laura's teacher

Once on Little House on the Prairie, Laura Ingalls was describing her teacher. She said she smelled like Lemon Verbena, I guess noting her perfume. I don't know I remember such things! LOL! Okay, sorry to disrupt the topic.

Caldrea also makes the Mrs. Meyer's products as well as those sold by Williams-Sonoma, both of which might be easier to find than the Caldrea itself.
