Lenor Unstoppable Beads

Has anyone in the UK tried these yet? My other half is popping to Asda after work so I've put them on the shopping list,I'm curious as to whether they are just designed for freshness or do they add softness to? I once tried the Comfort Pearls if anyone remembers them and I wasn't keen on the fragrance,

I've saved my bed linen until he gets home so i can try them out

In case you're wondering though, here in the United States. P&G gives us Downy, instead of Lenor.. and we have a similar product called, Downy Unstopables. It's sold a in-wash scent booster, and only enhances the scent of finished laundry, it doesn't soften. 

 

I've always myself, wanted to try Lenor, and see the difference between the two. Alas though, I've never seen it in stores.

I had a look online and noticed that Downy have the product in other countries,
Unfortunately I'm going to have to wait a little longer to find out as the supermarket had sold out of them this evening,but once I get a bottle I will see how they work

Another Piece of Crap P&G is Trying to sell people

Why do we need our clothes to smell fresh for up to 12 weeks, I only want my clothes to smell fresh up until I need to wash it again. Its completely unnecessary and more chemicals to flush down the drain!

I'm not happy with P&G...First they messed up their detergents so they don't clean very well, and you have to buy an add on stain remover to remove dirt. I find Ariel doesn't get out pasta sauce and curry stains at all, the Ariel I used years ago (Ariel Ultra, Ariel Futur, Ariel Essential, Ariel Quickwash Action Powder) got it all out...but now I need to add Ariel "stain remover" to the powder to get the dirt out! Why do I need to do this when I'm using a premium product, which is very expensive and is mean to be "the best" and is mean to get my washing spotless.

Their detergent perfumes are too overpowering, Daz washing powder is the only tolerable smell I like, it smells fresh and like clean cotton and is reasonably priced. I can't be around anything thats washed in Ariel or Bold Powder, its headache inducing.

Lenor stinks, I washed some stuff in Lenor Spring Awakening and my dad couldn't breathe and was coughing all night. I don't like the smell at all, they have ruined what was a lovely conditioner that I remember using throughout childhood. Overpowering Perfumes, that just smell of chemicals.

What is happening to Proctor and Gamble? Their products are too expensive, heavily marketed and not worth the money you pay for them.

Speaking of added stain removers,I spilled curry sauce on a white t shirt,treated it with vanish gold,rubbed it in as instructed,gave it 30 seconds,added a scoop with surf,washed at 60 and hay presto,the stain is still there :/

Downy/Lenor

Mich, as far as I know, there should be no difference between Lenor products and Downy products, as they're the exact same product, even P&G confirms this.

Maybe the only difference is scent, which will be catered to the market, example, we no longer have a Lenor called April fresh, but the scent of what I believe was April fresh is completely different to the American one, which I love and wish we had it on the market (that is, if I still used P&G products).

If you use plain green washing up liquid, that would get it out better than that Vanish Gold rubbish.

I tend to pretreat really greasy marks with washing up liquid and rinse it out before I put it through the wash.

Remember the window test from all those years ago? Putting your whites up to the window and seeing how perfectly clean they were. You do that nowadays, and you can see stains that haven't quite gone away completely, which is a sign that detergents are weaker, as we now rely on extremely long wash cycles of 3 hours to wash the clothes, where as old machines relied on the detergent which was stronger, and weren't stingy with water and had quick wash times.

I've done long washes with Ariel at 40 and 60 degrees and stains haven't been removed! For a detergent that costs £10 for a 40 wash box, its not worth the money, if it doesn't get all the stains out.

Stains

Zanussi lover, Co-ops own brand basic detergent literally strips every stain going. Even raw Blueberry came out first time. I would bet it was Persil Powers old formula they had to get rid of lol.

Someone I support has been using the Lenor Unstoppables, his house stank of the stuff, was pretty overpowering.

As for detergent, you can't beat Persil Bio powder and Bio Small and Mighty. No need for stain removers at all then.

Could it be that some of the washing machines used today are not really reaching the set temperature, thus the detergents aren't cleaning as well as they did in the past?

I saw the Lenor Unstoppable beads in Tesco. Reading the label, it said "harmful to the aquatic environment". I put it back.

We don't need extra killer chemicals doing damage to the environment. Procter and Gamble should be bloody well ashamed!

Temperatures

That only applies to the Cottons Eco cycles - the ones that are used for the Energy Label. You could compare it to the Normal cycle on US washers that never gets anywhere near a warm temp either. Avoiding this cycle is pretty easy now because new machines have a symbol next to the setting that are needed for the eco cycle.

If you look at this Bosch, for example, selecting the Cotton cycle along with EcoPerfect and either 40C or 60C (<span style="text-decoration: underline;">with</span> that symbol - there's also a normal 40 and 60C setting available on the display) gives you those low temps.

The Stain said Hot But the Label Said Not

This is what I use on difficult stains (tomato based sauces mainly) on colours that cant be washed on a high temperature. A splash of hot water on it rub with the soap bar and wash as usual and hey presto stain gone. There are no enzymes or surfactants etc just soap and scent in it

I picked up on the idea on a thread on here a long long time ago where it was suggested as a good way of removing difficult stains, I went out looking for it and only found it in one shop, it was only £0.69p! what have I got to lose I thought at that price.

When I had modern washers I relied heavily on Vanish etc to get marks etc out of clothes, since going back to my very old washer I no longer need Vanish or expensive sudsy and over scented brand leader powders/liquids/gels etc to get my clothes clean.

So thanks to Tesco colour and bio powders with virtually no scent or suds with excellent cleaning
And thanks to Morrisons for stocking this old fashioned and cheap stain remover.

I use Persil powder and Ecover softener to avoid ÜberWhiff™ additives.

Unilever Persil's fairly pleasant smelling without being overpowering.
P&G seems to really like strong fragrances.

Out of P&G's detergents I like Daz washing powder as it washes well, and the scent is tolerable (compared to Ariel powder which has a pungent odour I can't stand) and when on offer in Tesco at £4 for a 40 wash box i buy a couple of boxes, and use about 75ml per wash.

I'm currently using Lidl Formil (big box) washing powder (subtle soapy smell), and I'm using Tesco's Spring Fresh Conditioner (blue bottle), smells very nice and reminds of old traditional conditioners, before they became overpowering.

I don't use Lenor or Comfort anymore, as they are too strong and give me headaches if the clothes are drying in the same room.

I agree about washing products that are overly scented you can also add to that over sudsy, I remember trying out ariel excel on bedding the odour was very strong, when I got in bed I couldn't breath so I had to change the whole lot and re-wash the bedding the next day, Persil small and mighty and bio powder again very strong overpowering scent, Daz quite a strong scent but doesn't clean as well as it use to so that's off the list aswell.
The last time I bought some Ariel tabs they were truly revolting smelling, a sickly sweet smell that reminded me of silage not too pleasant

There is obviously a market for strongly scented washing products but I for one am not part of it

Excellent! its done a great job, just makes you think that a simple bar of household soap is excellent at shifting stains compared to all this Vanish crap which is a waste of money!

Unfortunately Persil makes me itch, I used the bio and non bio powder for a while in very small dosages but it doesn't agree with my skin. The Non Bio small and mighty is the only one I can use.

Regarding Daz, I find it does shift a lot of general dirt and food stains at 40*c, but then again a lot of my clothes aren't that soiled anyway, occasionally I will drop pasta sauce on my white t-shirt, or spill tea or coffee on myself by accident. My tea towels get covered in gunk and I find on a full length 60 wash, all the dirt comes out with Daz. I like the scent too, it smells very vintage!

I can't stand the smell of Ariel, its nothing like Ariel Essential, Ariel was once my favourite washing powder up until 2006. The original Ariel two layer tablets (circa 1999/2000) had a wonderful smell, and I absolutely loved Ariel Alpine.

They have reformulated Ariel in Germany and a lot of people aren't buying it anymore because of the horrible perfume.
