Lets hear it for Avacado

After reading Westy's post for the GE Carry-Cool, I thought I had a picture of the one I had. I could not find them but found these of my mom's Kitchen during the 70's

The Stove is a Roper classic double oven gas range, 1973
The fridge is a Frigidaire 20 cubic foot Gemini side by side, 1970?
The dishwasher is a GE Potscubber, 1976

She had a Kenmore model 60 wahser and dryer, THen in 1974 got a GE dispensal washer

I also found this one. In 1983 I bought my wife a Kitchen Aide Superba dishwasher. We still lived in a rented apartment so I got a convertible one. When we bought our house in 1984, we built it in. When the motor burned up in the fall of 97 and it was replaced with the Frigidaire Gallery one. This is me at the young age of 25. Oh to be young again

One of the churches here had that Roper range, but in white. I saw it about 7 years ago. I drooled then. Also had two pair of wawshers & dryers, both monkey wards norge machines, both were early to mid 1970s versions. As mucgh as I hated those machines when they were new, I lusted after being able to have one of the sets. That 1976 PotScrubber was the same model/features put in some of the houses bult around my first house in 1980. I had a builder that put in Kenmore. I wanted to steal one of those PotScrubbers so bad.

Churches always have old appliances. What's up with that? I remember peeking into a back room and seeing a Kenmore BD era dryer at one of the churches I've been to. I was hoping to find the washer but I didn't.

Hi Mike, We had that refrigerator in coppertone when I was a teenager. Was glad to see us finally have all appliances the same color. The salesman told my Mom not to get the icemaker on it because "they broke down frequently". I could have died. But I loved the side by side. Your Mom's other appliances are nice too. I will always regret not having had an avocado kitchen to enjoy.

Always loved the Frigidaire Gemini's.Had that classic look to them!
Churches usually have old appliances,because they're not used a lot,and are usually donated by a member,who is getting new ones.

Real nice appliances. My mother had the same KA dishwasher just up until last year. They just don't make them that way anymore. Now she has a GE talltub.

Well if memory serves me corectly, gansky1 found his 1954 Bendix DuoMatic in a church basement kitchen type of area.
