LG 11020D fill question

I have recently picked up an LG 11020D front loader.

It is a fairly basic front loader, direct drive motor, 1100rpm spin. hot and cold fill connection and a heater. Not very old.

I haven't found any real fault with it, though it needed a good clean.

the only odd thing I have noticed is that for the first fill of a cycle it starts to fill in tiny bursts - a few spurts of a second or so, a few spurts of maybe 5 seconds, then it starts to fill properly. I'm not sure if this odd behaviour is normal or a fault.

 

Does anyone have any ideas? I can't think of any reason it would be designed to do this routine. I haven't yet checked it with a timer to see if its the same pattern of spurts, or if it is more random. I'd guess of it was a consistent pattern, that suggests it is normal. If it is random, it might suggest a fault, maybe a poor solder joint on the board that improves when it is warmed up a little?

I'm open to your suggestions.

 

I have just looked at the online owners manual, the faults code does have an error code for water pressure error, maybe it is checking water pressure in the short bursts of fill?

 

Once it is past this strange start to the cycle, it behaves perfectly and does a good wash.

brief fill bursts

is normal for LG front load washing machines. They all do that along with the Kenmore badged ones as well.They do it only on the main wash fill. all other fills are constant fills.

As stated above its normal

Behaviour for them and if you can ignore it you will have a good washer.

I have read somewhere its meant to help disperse powder better but not sure how true that is?

I did wonder if it was about the powder - I would have guessed the opposite - wet the powder just enough to turn it into a sticky lump that fuses to the drawer.... which is happening a bit with this machine - it often leaves a small crust of wet detergent in the drawer. The same detergent in the Miele all goes in the wash. This may be because the Miele has hot and cold fill, the LG, although it has hot and cold inlets, is only connected to cold. It's in the garage which has no hot water.
