LG, anyone have this model?

The model of LG we will be getting is WM2050CW. I just want to know what others think of this model. I have done ALOT of research on this LG model, and from what I can find, has excellent reviews.
The reasons for getting the LG is, many.
It will be replacing a Amana Front load washer model NFW7200TW that I bought last Jan, 09 for my birthday, and got REPLACED once, 6 months after I got it, under warrenty.
Here's the story:
I purchased this amana front loader washer at HomeDepot, during a sale. I got 20% off. got it installed early Febuary.
has been working great, very pleased with it.
At 6 months,(mid August) it started to leak in front, and noticed the door was sagging about alittle more than a 1/8th inch.
called for repair,came out, they ordered parts. said they would be mailed to me in 7-10days.
7-10days came and went, no parts here. called Amana, they would see if they could find out when they could arrive.
About 3 days later, Amana called said they are aware of parts that are back ordered, and have no idea when they would arrive, so they authorized to have the washer REPLACED by Homedepot, pronto!
The Amana Washer was replaced the following week by HD, and I checked the door before it got off the truck.. it was fine.(Machine #2)

Early this January, same problem again, leaking infront and sagging door.
called for repair, came out, told the repair guy what and when things were done. Ordered parts again(New Door Hinge and Tub boot). 7days, they arrived. called for appointment to have installed, and had them installed. (Jan 19th)
Last Thurs, same problems arose AGAIN. Called for repair, came out, told the guy the whole story. I told him I believe Amana has a design flaw with this model washer, with the door hinge, and he agreed with me. He asked if I had gone to Home Depot to ask for a exchange for a different model, which I now have done.
Whirlpool wanted a "Second opinion" of the washer by a different repair company, which came out this monday. Told him the whole story, and he first noticed that, the tub boot wasn't put on right(which he fixed) and that I need a new door. He asked if I wanted him to fix everything or just report what he found, to Whirlpool. I told him to just tell Whirlpool.

The Amana is a great budget front loading washer mechanically, but is has some issues, which are: doesn't consistantly sense a balanced load for spins, causing ALOT of vibrating at times, and the door hinge not being able to support the door, causing it to sag after months of useage.
Chris said for me to look into a LG, equal to what the Amana is, capacity and features. Found one but it wasn't available(WM2010CW, base model) So went to the next model up from that, which is WM2050CW

I can't say enough good things about HomeDepot. They have been fantastic with me, through this whole deal, and infact, They are swapping my Amana front loading washer, which is still under warrenty, for LG straight across.,no questions!! There is a $250.00 price difference!! That really made our day. Chris also said, to order the matching dryer for it, which I did Friday. I did find out a something, that I found strange. HomeDepot requires a new electrial cord AND exhaust hose before they will install a dryer! I asked a manager about that, and he said, If they install a dryer with the exsisting electrial cord and exhaust hose, and something goes wrong, it voids the warrenty of the machine. To us, getting new equipment for it, is worth it, even though the electrial cord and exhaust hose I have is fine. Just a bit of a annoyance.
Both washer and dryer are suppost to arrive April 16th or 19th.

I checked Consumer Reports online and it is one of the highest ranking front-load models. It's also checked as a "best buy". Their top-rated model, one of the new LG-made Kenmores scored an 85. The LG you're looking at scored an 83.

Washing performance is rated Very Good (as are most of the front-loaders).
Capacity, water efficiency, energy efficiency, and gentleness are all rated Excellent.

Resistance to excessive vibration/walking is rated Very Good.

Noise is rated Good.

It has an 80-minute Normal cycle.

The newer LG washers are also reported to be among the most reliable.

Sounds like you've found a winner! Let us know what you think of it once you've taking it for a few test runs.

I myself used to bleed orange--

I was a great employee at HD for 9 years. I was the top sales associate in the U.S. for 7 straight months at the Winter Park location and Altamonte Springs. If there was an issue where the customer wasn't completely satisfied with their purchase, I would first,find out what the issue was and second,nothing was replaced or refunded without an authorized technitian for that specific product to prove the item wasn't repairable.If it was,I'd explain to the customer that we would have it repaired and then judge whether or not the appliance was to be replaced. If it was not repairable or had the same problem again within a month,I would relace the unit with one of equal or better value with the same features they wanted.Usualy,everything worked smoothly and the repair was all that was needed. It was normal for new owners of front loaders to mess up,especially the Maytag Neptunes and GE front loading washers.Most of the replacements done were the LG dishwashers, GE refrigerators and Maytag Neptune and Wide by Sides.The Admiral washers and dryers, the GE dishwashers(tall tubs),the GE gas and/or electric ranges and LG washers,dryers and electric ranges were the least frequent ones as far as service issues went.I had their twins that have the backpanel controls and never once in 2.5 years had any issues with them.They were a year old when I found them at a local flee market for $250/pair!!The quick cycle was the most frequently used and the heavy towels was also used a bit more than others.The dryer also worked well and was fast,efficient and they were both real quiet!Fun to watch and great in getting clothes real clean.I had the Kitchenaid ensembles prior to the LGs and sold the set for $1200. I paid $0 for them and had them 4 years.A friend bought them at a scratch and dent but never measured their closet where their laundry twins were going. They called me in the wee hours of the morning hysterical saying they needed a narrower depth pair. I had the GE Profile(Frigidaire)pair I got free after they fell off a delivery truck and swapped them for the K'Aids. It was a win/win situation. They got a nice pair that more easily fit and had the risers included and I got a K'Aid set(high end Duets) with the drawers. When I moved from Florida to Texas,they fit but I had to open them seperately to load and unload instead of being able to load the right into the open dryer from the washer. The laundry room I had was set up for top loaders and the LG's fit better allowing me to open the dryer door and load the wash directly in instead of having to carry the wet clothes in my hand,shut the washer door and turn around,open the dryer then add the clothes.I sold them for $1100 and the buyer still has them,no issues.the model you're getting will be much nicer than the Amana(made by Samsung)you have and will be fun to watch especialy because,being a direct drive model,it not always spins the same direction!Sometimes it will spin clockwise,while other times it will be spinning counter clockwise. It all depends which way it's going while ballancing the load.Mine would normaly spin clockwise. One evening,I was washing some of the stuffed animals I had for years and was watching them wash. It was going to its final spin and went to 1200 rpms going counter clockwise. I called to find out if I was going crazy only to find out that the direction is not as important as the ballanced loads are.Great idea and less waiting time for the cycle's lenth of time to end.

Just keep your fingers crossed that you don't have any problems with an LG appliance there is almost no competent service available for LG in the US and ever appliance will break eventually.

I agree with jaxsunst.

I doubt seriously that Sears would have even considered having anyone make their product without training their technicians and stocking up on parts for them.Their contracting out to L.G to make their high end front loaders was a massive exodus from Whirlpool.As I have been doing some research on these new models,I have noticed the construction and features they have and have seen some very nice features that the Kenmores have but the L.G.s don't. Maybe,like with Whirlpool,Sears has agreed to take these exclusive features on the Kenmores first and introduce them,market them, then release them out to L.G. for their products.They did this with the Dual-action agitators,Calipso's,and Oasis washers.

The hinges,doors,tubs and cabinet construction are way better than whirlpool,GE,Frigidaire and Samsung units and, other than that damned smoked glass window,they look much nicer than any other brand.I'm sure that I'll,more than likely be considering buying a set.I have one other laundry pair (a GE harmony gas dryer and a whirlpool direct drive 3 speed washer) in our Library Suite that need to disapear.the dryer has had so much abuse since before I moved here and had a complete overhaul.The tub had warped from too many tennis shoes being dried at the same time and is now having electronic failiers.I never use the timed cycles and set the dryness instead of time. It allows me to decrease the dryness and temperature but not increase it. It also won't go past the setting so,you can't start it.

Some people just need to stay away from appliances. There is a girl here who comes from a wealthy family that has broken every appliance she has touched.She borrowed my Kirby and sucked up paper towels she had layred on her floor to absorb a spill and completely clogged the hose,broke the belt and almost burned out the motor.She borrowed a 1945 casserole dish my grandmother gave me and broke it by trying to make gravy in it on her stove top,She ruined one of our Speed queen commercial washers by trying to wash a tent and sleeping bag,she ruined two of my saucepans and a skillet by using metal spatulas instead of plastic and made me have to run my Frigemore through a sanitize cycle after washing her dog's doghouse rug using soap instead of detergent claiming her dog would get sick otherwise. I had to clean out the pump assembly caked with dog hair.She and her husband claim they opened many restaurants in Georgia.I noticed that neither one of them are very consciencious when it comes to washing their hands.Especialy after using the bathroom. I guess that's why they're no onger doing the restaurant scene.I wash my hands constantly. I pump propane,repair appliances and handle all kinds of contaminated items and will not put my hands on any kind of food or drink before thoroughly washing them.I even wash them with a bleach solution sometimes.Mostly when I see somebody sneeze or cough without covering their face with a tissue or use their hand to cover it.I watch the others neglect themselves and see them get sick while I stay healthy.Amazing.

I have one fo the first LG's made. I must admit, I had a lot of service calls, but I guess I was lucky in that the Appliance store that I bought it from 9PC RIchards), had trained technicians.

From what I see of Sears-think they are going the "Big Box" route rather than providing SERVICE like they used to.Yes,think I will stay away from LG major appliances until horror stories of bad repair service subside.
Oh boy-the appliance abusers-Kirbys used to pick up paper towels?Even a Shop Vac may have trouble with that.Pans being improperly used on the stove?,Doggy things washed in your washer-would definetly look for other roomates.And lock up my appliances from them.I don't lend out any of my machines at this point.And the problems of folks not washing their hands.Think of all the illneeses and diseases that may be PREVENTED by the simple act of washing your paws even after the "you know" tasks.People with dirty meathooks--GROSS!
