LG Combo Washer/Dryer

Ok.............I think I'm going to go ahead and buy the top of the line LG washer/dryer combo. It sounds like everyone loves them. Anyone have one that they love or hate. I absolutely will not buy the Asko as I have not heard one nice thing about them.

LG Combo

Hi John,
I do have the LG Combo 3677 large model which is the larger model for 2 years now. I like the machine but just so you know I am unhappy with the LG service. Not many people service LG appliances and from what I have heard it does take a long time to get parts if needed. I just reciently had my machine fixed because of a leak from the door. (the door needed to be tightened) and it took 9 days before the service guy came over. Keep these things in mind.
It is a very nice appliance however with many wonderful features and does wash very. Keep in mind the cycle times are long. In my openion if you have the space for two units I would go with the Frigmore. If you want more information you can send me email at ([email protected]) but LG in subject line. I tend to agree with Peter, about your looking into getting a Fridgemore Set, instead of an LG Large Capacity Combo. The only way that I would get the LG Combo, would be if I were to also buy an additional separate Electric or Gas Dryer, either to place next to or on top of the Combo Unit. That way, if there would be any heavier Laundry Loads, that I didn't want to Wash and Dry in the Combo, I could Wash in the Combo and Dry in the separate Dryer. I've been already doing this with my LG Compact Combo that I've got. I've got a Compact Kenmore 110-Volt Dryer, that actually doesn't take that real long to even Dry a very large or heavy Load, on top of my Compact Combo Unit, because of the terrible long length of time it takes from Start to Finish, with these Combo Units. It is because they have a Condensor Drying System. Mine has taken up to 7-Hours, Wash, Dry and Cool-Down, when I select the Auto Dry and wait for the full Cycle of the Unit.

I bought 4-Rubber Boot-like protectors, to put on the Level Legs of my Compact Dryer. They are like what are on the Floor end of Crutches. They work great, even given that my LG Compact Combo is sitting on a Heavy Duty Dolly, with Locking Wheels. The Rubber Boots are great, for keeping the Dryer in place, no matter how much Vibration the Combo gives, especially during the Faster Final Spins. I found a local Welding Company that made the Dolly for me, from the Spec's of the Weight Capacity of the Combo, including Water and Laundry, at approx 300-pounds Max. The Dolly certainly isn't never going to break-down, it was very well made. I Paid $250.00 for it, so it better not break ever. They even Painted it Appliance White, to match as best as possible of the Combo's White Color.

Since my Compact Combo and Dryer are in the Kitchen, I've got the Backs facing my Stove, but sitting in front of my Dishwasher. I've got a Nylon Stocking on the Vent opening of the Dryer and I open the Sink area Window for Air Circulation and I put my Micro-Hood on High to pull out as much Hot-Air as possible. That is the Hot-Air, other than from some of the Hot-Air on the Club Site. {LOL}

Last year I bought the TOL LG combo and from day 1 it was a nightmare. The dryer portion takes a long time if you are drying heavy items or even bulky items. EX: A load of Casual clothing took 3 hours to dry and it was an average load 5 pants and 5 shirts. In addition the pump filter clogs rather quickly and slows up the pump and spinning process if not cleaned almost weekly. If you do a lot of linty clothing then more often. I sent mine back after 4 weeks of 5 hour cycles and 2 service calls for spinning issues and draining concerns. Most places have discontinued carrying them now for many of the same reasons. I bought it for space reasons , but then replaced LG with Whirlpool stackable units.
Just be cautious before taking the plunge.

Hi! Glenn "wigwagster" are you referring about the Pump protection Filter, that has a Lower-Left Front Cover, that you pull down and unscrew the Filter to clean? I've checked the one on my LG Compact Combo once in a while, but it has rarely ever had even a few strands of Lint or Thread from Clothing inside it.

I'm wondering if the Larger Capacity LG Combos have something different than my Compact Combo Unit has, for a Filtering Pump System?

As I've mentioned before a few times possibly, my Combo is connected to my Kitchen Sink, similar to a Portable Dishwasher. Since I don't want any Lint to go down my Sink Drain, I've got a Nylon Stocking Strapped to the end of the Drain Hose opening, to catch the excess Lint, not only from during the Wash, but during the Dry Cycles as well. This Lint catching works real well and as long as I clean the Nylon Stocking out often enough, it has never had any problems with Draining the Water out, even with some once in a while excessive Sudzing.

Hi John,
I'm sorry you had so many problems with your LG combo. Was it the large model 3677 like I have? I do like my machine, and yes the cycle times are long and it takes awhile to balance to spin. Some negatives, but my real only big complaint is with the service and lack of. From what I have bdeen reading like on the garden web for example it seems that once people have certain problems with these units they seem to reoccure. I think also the service people out their are not trained properly aside from the lack of service people. Best Of Luck
