LG "Sapience" Hygienic washing machine comes to South Africa!

Hey all!

Well as a lover and owner of LG appliances (washing machine, 2 tumble dryers, dishwasher and fridge) I am very excited about the new Sapience hygienic washing machine from LG that has just launched here in South Africa.

Its a top loader sporting a huge 19kg capacity full stainless tub with steam, a jet and an internal water heater. Top loaders with heaters are big in America but this is a 1st here in SA. The manual doesn't specify if the heater is used in all cycles, but the main reasons for the heater is for the Stain Care programme where it will heat the water to 40C for better stain removal, and heats to 60C on the Allergy Care and Tub Clean cycles in order to kill bacteria. Would love to know if selecting "hot" or "warm" on any cycle also engages the heater, as this would be a great feature. It has the 6 motion of course and many cycles and options. The manual makes it sound like a stunning machine and it doesn't disaapoint in looks either.

However I am now torn - I can't decide if I want this or the 17kg Steam 6 motion front loader. Both are way out of my budget, but if I could choose, I don't know which of the 2 I would go for now. If the Sapience uses the heater on ever cycle I'd go for it, but if not, I would absolutely love the 17kg front loader.

Nice machines imo.

They're virtually unheard of in this country. Even most of our front loaders don't have heaters.

The user manual for the top loader makes almost no sense. Who wrote it? 

I wonder, what's the power rating of the heater in watts?

@jeffg sorry for that, I meant that they came to your shores before they came here. Should've been more clear. But thanks for agreeing that they are nice machines. They come in 15kg and 17kg options too, but why beat around the bush hey? Just get the big daddy. I know LG hasn't always had the best reputation in America but from what I've been reading here that seems to be changing? Here in SA they do quite well in the market and I haven't heard people I know with them complain. My moms aunt had her LG turbo drum top loader for close to 20 years when the gear box packed up. By this time the brakes were also finished and the pump was on its way out. So she took my advice and got the new entry level Samsung Wobble 13kg top loader

@logixx I have noticed that sometimes it seems as if the manuals are directly translated (from korean most likely seeing as that's where LG comes from) and often it does leave one a bit confused. Not sure what the wattage of the heater is and it would've been nice if they included cycle times with approximate heating times. Here in SA in our summer months cold water comes out the tap at around 24C so it doesn't take our front loaders very long to get that up to 40C or even 60C(my LG 7kg DD (pre 6 motion) does a 40C cotton quick cycle in 56 mins and the 20 min wash time is enough to get the water heated) but in winter it is a good 10C colder so it does take a bit longer so I'd love to know how long it would take this machine to get a full load on a cold fill up to 40C for the Stain Care cycle.
