Out of the blue, this just showed up, ready to be shipped:

Now, it's actually kind of impressive.
In the Eco rating cycle, the usage is pretty much linear. It's rated at 18kg (close to 40lbs!) so 9kg is a half load. At half load, it's pretty much as efficent and as fast as any other 9kg A+++ dryer by LG. A full load does take 6:20h on the rating cycle - but dosen't even use 3kWh for 40lbs of clothing.

And it can be WAY faster. The manual states "just" 4:50 and 4,12kWh for 18kg Extra Dry. It doesn't say which setting that is on (Eco, Balanced, Speed), but the way the manual is written I would be guess Balanced.
That means a continous heat pump power of something like 700-800W, probably higher on the Turbo setting.

A weird and sad downside: The condenser clean out door is just gone.
Why? The US got it, why not the EU?
Guess you'll want to run the condenser cleaning quite regularly.

I have the DLHC5502W and I love it! It does take longer than my Whirlpool heat pump dryer (WED99HEDC) but the performance is spectacular.

The LG does reverse direction which makes all the difference in the world for bulky items like blankets and comforters. It does also change tumbling speed which makes a surprising difference for bulky things when they start to ball up. I think aside from that and reversing the 6 motion isn’t really anything special.

It auto cleans the condenser at the end of each cycle and you can run a special condenser cleaning cycle where you pour a liter of water into the lint screen slot. I’ve popped open the condenser access a few times now and have never seen a speck of lint or anything on the condenser. Perhaps they determined that access is just not needed?

If you can live with the time it takes to dry (1.5-2.5 hours usually) it’s a marvelous machine!
